  1. Or you could just look at July 5 through August 4 and that would really make your point! 😅
  2. "Struggles" doing a lotta work here given Paredes's slash line since August 5 is .250/.308/.396, good for a 107 wRC+ that, by itself, would be third-best on our team since then, behind only Willi (118 wRC+) and Victor (111 wRC+). If we were looking at WAR, Paredes would be tied for best with Willi at 0.3.
  3. I thought it was government-supplied scholarships since private scholarships have a separate section, plus the data is pretty exact regarding disbursement by income levels.
  4. I was starting to look into this a little, wondering whether an increase in students receiving grants and scholarships might somewhat offset dramatic increases in tuition. But this web page says that only 7% of students do so, so obviously not. I do notice on this page, however, that public grants and scholarships going to students at private colleges is substantially greater than those going to students at public colleges, and furthermore, the average grant/scholarship amount drop precipitously with family income at public schools, but not by nearly as much at private schools: This perplexes me. Can anyone with knowledge of this process help me understand why this is?
  5. Thta’s because as far as Republican politicians are concerned the higher the ed, the fewer the votes. It’s gotta be why they keep trying to talk people into going to trade school instead of college. (Actually, you can do both by going to Ferris State.)
  6. Are you talking about Republicans in Florida?
  7. I think its the extra torque the pitcher puts on the elbow to make the movement happen that really makes the slider more dangerous to the ligaments. I believe pitchers put practically as much force into throwing the slider as they do the fastball.
  8. So the sun is setting on the IPA craze? Good. It is way, way past time for that.
  9. You misspelled “roster”.
  10. The slider is the hardest pitch on the elbow, but it’s also the most effective pitch that a lot of pitchers can thrown for strikes. Split-fingers are harder to hit, but hardly anyone throws them because they’re so hard to throw in the first place, let alone for strikes.
  11. I hate their version of Jesus.
  12. I think Trump being exiled would be one of the worst outcomes I can imagine because he will be able to resuming throwing bombs via social media with impunity, which I believe will make him much more effective a leader of the Overthrow America movement than he can be here in America. He won’t do hard time in Leavenworth, either, obviously. I think the best outcome, assuming he is found guilty of the capital crimes we all assume he engaged in, is house arrest at one of Jeffrey Epstein’s island properties, one that’s been completely denuded of all discretionary communications capability, and that is beyond the ability of red hats to make a pilgrimage to. The United States must maintain chain of custody of a convicted Trump.
  13. This guy has get to be getting to the end of his rope.
  14. As far as we have heard to this point, Hinch is not only not at any risk of getting fired, he basically represents the future of the organization, to the degree that he as the field manager is going to have a big hand in helping determine who the new GM is going to be. So like it or not, get used to that idea.
  15. I also wouldn't call Hinch a failure in Detroit. His roster is a load of shit no one could win with. He's proven he can win 100+ games with the right roster. Hinch is the least of the Tigers' problems.
  16. Unless you think Flores can return a solid starting position player—and if so I would ask you to explain how that would work—I don't think I'm being harsh at all by opining that the player he returns would be only as advanced as he is, which is unnumbered prospect.
  17. I don't think Soto gets us a solid position player in return. Eduardo Rodriguez might get us a return provided (1) the Tigers send eight figures in cash along with him to seal the deal; and (2) he will have to prove he can stay on the roster.
  18. The scales from fans' eyes went out the door with Al.
  19. Manning has a recent injury history and is not out of those woods yet. I don't see anyone giving us a plus position player for him. Flores is a flyer not even Pipeline ranked, so we'd get a flyer position player in return, I'd think. lol Brieske. Jobe? Maybe. He's the most likely of your list, and I'd be cool with that as long as he's not considered an untouchable part of the next contending Tiger team in 2027.
  20. The new top 100 just came out. Am I remembering correctly that Jobe was ranked somewhere in the 20s? He's ranked #41 on the new list. Jace Jung is 70-something. And that's it for Tigers in the Top 100. Somewhat to your point, it is Pipeline, so I take the rankings with a bit of salt.
  21. Sig Mejdal is the keynote speaker at the SABR conference here in Baltimore. He described how much or a self-imposed hole the Orioles were in: multiple 100-loss seasons, terrible farm system, no analytics, utilizing the best practices of the 80s. Sound familiar? He said he and others were brought on board to overhaul and modernize their systems to start competing in 2018. They appear to start turning the corner this July of 2022. So perhaps that is telling us what our own timeline will be, and that’s dependent on whether we do it right in the first place.
  22. What pitcher do we have that could return even a single decent position player or prospect?
