  1. It's super easy for me to vote here, too. Then again, we're not a red state that's trying to slash early voting hours or ban mail-in voting or close polling stations in minority areas.
  2. Yeah, who needs government-stabilized currency sitting in an insured bank account, anyway!
  3. Says the white guy who lives in a mostly white community where elections are run by a bipartisan Board of Election Commissioners mandated by the state to maintain easy access to the polls. 🤠
  4. I too will go out on a limb here and say a decent percentage of those truckers are American, or otherwise have close ties to MAGA.
  5. I believe this is the main reason Putin is moving at all now.
  6. One advantage Putin may have is that Russia, as both itself and as the Soviet Union, has a well-established playbook on how to roll into a another country or a region, subjugate the population, and take over rule. They may even have it down to a sort of science. One thing we can hope for is that free Ukrainians throw enough shit at them to bog them down a la Afghanistan, at least for a while. The wild card in this scenario is that one of every six people in Ukraine is Russian, as well as a yet-to-be-determined number of sympathetic Ukrainians acting as quislings to ingratiate themselves to their first cousin Russians, under the assumption of inevitability. Who knows how that part of it plays out.
  7. That's what they're hoping for.
  8. The main thing Jake has to do when he comes back is to keep the bat unlocked. He does that and I think he’ll be at least in the conversation for All-Star bids.
  9. Trout is arguably the most well-rounded great player of our lifetimes, but even the relatively small amount of time he’s lost is going to cost him slots on the all-time list. Although someone’s gotta do it, it’s almost impossible to become one of the all-time greats. Absolutely everything has to go right: exceptional tools, performance, versatility, peak, career length, health, luck. Being the performance leader of ring teams would be a tiebreaker. That’s why I think no one may ever supplant Babe Ruth at the top.
  10. The frog is getting warmer and warmer.
  11. And let Ukraine go entirely? Make a choice?
  12. I’m starting to wonder what the US would do if Xi goes for Taiwan at the same time Putin goes for Ukraine. Those two have become pretty good friends lately.
  13. Democracy slowly dying before our very eyes …
  14. Pwn those blue counties.
  15. I think they're called "Asshats" up there.
  16. They could always ride their bikes through!
  17. Yes, that was a good day, Ben. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN201206130.shtml
  18. Ha ha, no shit. This is among the least surprising revelations, and I fully expect we'll learn that he both tried to destroy records and had records altered to hide criminality.
  19. Or "Born in the USA".
  20. Given that the Soviet economy precluded mass automobile ownership practically by definition, that's not a surprise to me.
  21. I feel as though Bolton is one of those many people brought into that administration who naively thought Trump could be tamed, molded, and controlled, as though Trump has the wants, needs, and ambitions of a typical politician. That what I think when I see people like him and Pence speak out like they have. I also think Bolton is betting on Trump and Trumpism to lose in the end, and that things will go back to whatever normal existed in the beforetimes, and that the American political system is stronger than any one man or group. That strikes as definitely something a traditional conservative politician would think.
  22. You might be. The price of gas shouldn't matter to me, either, but I definitely pay attention. I would travel the two extra miles I need to to pay 4.49 for gas instead of the 5.19 gas around the corner. The ten-dollar difference on the tank makes it worth it to me. Plus, I think not a few drivers gamify the whole gas price thing, too. Save a dime a gallon by going kitty-corner across the intersection to the other station and I feel like I've won that round.
  23. And you're still coming across very hostile, so I guess that just about makes us even. 😏
  24. Your first paragraph was a great answer, but I don't understand your hostility after that.
  25. What was your strategy? Was it to avoid the vax until you got COVID, then get vaxxed? Or was it that you hadn't gotten around to the vax until you were motivated to get it by a COVID diagnose?
