  1. I'm not sure how I feel about the "vote, vote, vote, vote" to codify Roe part. Red hats love to hate Biden, so if Biden proactively injects himself into campaign messaging for 2022, citing Roe in particular, that might provide even more energy for people to leave the house and vote Republican, whereas if he would stay out of that part, it might lull the red hats to stay home and hang out on their laurels. IOW, a continuing entreaty by Biden on Roe might end up motivating as many/more Republicans to vote as/than Democrats.
  2. Skubal has by far the best record on the team, and is the closest on our roster to All-Star quality, even with his poor recent starts, excepting Riley who may or may not even be eligible. My worry is that the reason Skubal has been doing poorly lately is that he might be hurt. If true, I wouldn't want him anywhere near Dodger Stadium a week from Tuesday, except after buying a ticket. If we're going to send a reliever, might as well be Alex Lange. He and Soto (closer or not) have similar numbers, but Lange has a better K/9 and GB% and, not for nothing, ERA and FIPs.
  3. I thought Miggy stood a legitimate chance of being the Tigers' All Star rep, straight up, if for no other reason than he is batting .300. Unless he has two more horrific starts, I guess that probably means Tarik Skubal goes as the real rep.
  4. The thing that prevents this is Slippery Slope: “If I say that not everyone is capable of gun ownership, They will ban gun ownership for everyone including me, and then only the criminals will have guns, and then we won’t be able to defend ourselves from the runaway street crime.”
  5. Speaking from the vantage point of July 2022, I can’t imagine that, once DeSantis starts campaigning after receiving the ‘24 nom, he won’t trip up and lose people along the way. He’s not so airtight. His Florida record should also drive away moderates.
  6. GQP will claim that Biden is starting to manipulate gas prices downward to help Democrats win in November. You know, because he can.
  7. Yup, that checks out.
  8. This societal jungle has its roots in the violent founding and genocidal expansion of this country, liberally seasoned with post-expansion apartheid.
  9. See? The media showing the actual person being shot works. When was the last time you heard of a shooting at a ballgame?
  10. Rookie good, yeah.
  11. Don’t look now, but the Tigers are 26-24 since May 11.
  12. Soto comes up big for the win, and so does TORK! on that Baez throw into the dirt. Tigers win!
  13. STRIKEOUT!
  14. Note that they can’t play the infield in with runners on second and third and one out, with a one-run lead in the ninth. They have to risk ceding one run on an infield grounder to avoid giving up two on the outfield single.
  15. Wow, tough break on that grounder for Soto. I would think most of the time a decent first baseman probably has that for the out at first.
  16. Anyone care to do a rollercoaster graphic for Soto?
  17. Concurrent sentences. Judge must like him.
  18. Man, what a career Leury Garcia, a man of very slight talents, has been able to fashion with the White Sox. There since 2013. And they got him for two more years after this!
  19. For a guy who rarely draws a walk, how about Reyes taking “ball four” within the top of the zone?
  20. I seriously have never seen what Barnhart did just now, picking off a pitch in the dirt and then running out to tag the runner between first and second. What kind of brain fog was Abreu in there?
  21. So much for the efficacy of tanking for years on end to draft starting pitchers 1/1.
  22. What resolution has this video been down-converted to? 160x100? I can’t tell from this that he put it on backwards.
  23. I always thought the idea was to keep the pitcher from hearing his teammates talking about the no-hitter in progress. I didn’t think it extended to everybody all over the world talking about it to each other or to themselves. But hey, I’ll wear it, I guess. 😁
  24. Man, are umpires just worse now? I mean, that one wasn’t even close.
