  1. Well, I certainly wouldn’t want Tork to turn into Nyjer Morgan.
  2. I could see it. He’s a former 1/1 waiting to be unlocked and help a team start winning right now. I think there are any number of organizations that believe they could unlock him and would gamble with giving up uncertain futures from “prospects” for that.
  3. Vierling going down really did throw a monkey wrench into the thing, didnt it?
  4. My thing since I started seeing them last year was to point at them and laugh. They’re so ****ing ridiculous-looking. How pathetic do you have to be to think they look cool?
  5. To be clear, once Trump makes any move against Greenland, that is a de facto withdrawal from NATO, which Greenland is part of.
  6. It’s almost as though we need a parliamentary system, since Electoral College rules practically preclude any permanent third party from taking root in this country.
  7. I think this is a closer representation of AOC than is anyone's convenient characterization of a hate-all-Jews AOC. https://www.timesofisrael.com/rep-ocasio-cortez-slams-antisemitism-on-left-but-says-term-weaponized/ Washington, DC, on November 14, 2023. (Stefani Reynolds/AFP) New York Jewish Week via JTA — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez condemned antisemitism but accused her critics of “weaponizing” the term in a rare public discussion with two Jewish activists who have shined a spotlight on bigotry against Jews in the pro-Palestinian movement. “Antisemitism, hate and violence against Jews because of their identity is real and it is dangerous,” the New York City Democratic congresswoman said at the start of the virtual discussion on Monday. She added, “When the Jewish community is threatened, the progressive movement is undermined.” ... But later, she said, “It is also true that accusations and false accusations of antisemitism are wielded against people of color and women of color by bad-faith political actors, and weaponizing antisemitism is used to divide us.” This sounds like a very reasonable position to me.
  8. AIPAC is not "the Jews" They are a radical political organization which does not fairly represent American Jews who support Israel, as they themselves support only right-wing Israeli policy and viewpoints, which is why MAGA and the Red Hats profess to love them so much. By way of example, AIPAC lobbied Congress to invade Iraq in 2003, and then spent time and treasure for the next several years defending their lobbying of that. They were also a principle player in the Lawrence Franklin espionage scandal in which the DoD employee passed classified intelligence about Iran to them, which they turned around and gave to the state of Israel. More recently, they publicly backed dozens of racist, homophobic, QAnon-drenched election deniers during the past few elections, including Elise Stefanik, Scott Perry, Buddy Carter, Kat Cammack, and Burgess Owens. I don't think "the Jews" should be held responsible for the actions of AIPAC any more than they should be held responsible for controlling the world's banking system. You can equate Zionist extremists as "the Jews" if you like, and that's your privilege in a still-free-for-the-moment America. But I will continue to reject that idea.
  9. Maybe AOC is better looking than this one ... We can have a debate about whether she's better-looking this one ...
  10. You mean based on this? https://nypost.com/2024/11/18/us-news/aoc-blames-pro-israel-group-for-democrats-2024-election-losses/ I don't buy NY Post spin.
  11. FWIW, I don't think AOC is the Gaza Jane some make her out to be.
  12. Schumer is an institutionalst at his core, and despite that the foxes are ravaging the chickens in the henhouse, he still believes in Institution writ large. That's what he's trying to protect with his caution. He appears to be trying to shape the direction of Democrats' response, albeit in the most feeble way possible, and it's getting away from him, so he's reteating into institutionalism. He is too calcified to realize we are way, way beyond the point of the institution healing its own wounds.
  13. FWIW, I don't think AOC is anywhere near the Gaza Jane some think she is.
  14. I don't like the idea of something like this changing the face of the shutdown to that of Democrats.
  15. It seems really unprecedented how relatively benign the American occupations of Europe and east Asia were.
  16. Now we know for a fact "woke" means literally nothing.
  17. I don't think we have the manufacturing base in this country to generate pollution anywhere near this level. I don't think we'll get back there until wages for factory workers are driven to south Asian levels.
  18. Vlad is negotiating for a Manchurian envoy.
  19. All good points, although I was not talking in terms of technical economics, either.
  20. Hitler didn't want a war with the rest of Europe, either. He started the war only once he could not bully and humiliate them into handing him the lebensraum on a silver platter that he wanted.
  21. This should go down as one of the greatest Weekend Update bits in SNL history.
  22. I do? That would make us kind of crowded at SS/3B now, assuming Jace Jung is also not toast. Marte also has not hit enough in the high minors to overcome his awful defense.
  23. Perhaps they simply haven't been provided the correct rhetoric to defend it with. Give it a little time.
  24. The rhetoric is off by only 900 years.
