On my iPhone a lot of times a post doesn’t seem to come up so I hit it again the button againso I get double post but I delete them immediately when I see them.

The real issue is race. America’s original sin. Obama could be twice elected as a black man because he was smart, affable, and seemingly unthreatening. He didn’t remind anyone of Eldridge Cleaver, Huey P Newton, or Malcolm X. In the first election, a canvasser came to the door of oh, let’s be be ungenerous and call these people “white trash“ and when a man answered the door and was asked who they were voting for he yelled back into the house asking his wife who they were voting for and she said “ We’re votin’ for the n******!” l don’t think sharp, smart, no nonsense black women are afforded that kind of generosity of spirit from white people and I doubt that same couple voted for her this time.

You know the reason I’m here is because I’m a sentimentalist and into the nostalgia of this baseball team. It’s such an innocent part of myself. But sentimentality and nostalgia are so easily debased into something vile when you use them as springboards to make people afraid and to provide them with an opportunity to lash out. We saw that last night. It’s disheartening how something so common and banal in our character can be so easily exploited by genuine evil. Sentimentality + fear or resentment = fascism

What gets me the most about this is the seeming futility of expecting ordinary human decency to come to the fore and to prevail when its services can mean the most at the most critical of moments. Our most deplorable appetites prevail over and over again, and are so easily seduced out of their fetid lairs.

Virginia has just been called for Harris

If Virginia holds, and she gets Pennsylvania Michigan, Nevada, Arizona, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Maine and New Hampshire so she essentially runs the table she wins I guess it could happen.

Sorry for my math error earlier I subconsciously saw what I wanted to see I was not making a joke I can’t believe I’m going to probably die under a willfully embraced fascist regime. Everything will be lies and tearing things down. I truly thought there’d be some kind of blue wave, especially after the surprising success in the elections two years ago where complete collapse was predicted. I guess people will vote for a black man who’s smart and unthreatening, but they won’t vote for a black woman who’s smart and edgy

Even if Harris wins all the remaining states, it’s not enough. I can’t believe we have to live through this again and it will be worse. The America we once knew is basically over.

Has Skubal been screwed out of his Cy Young yet?

I showed my ID so I could vote early Monday last week at one of our few early polling stations. And they close at 5 PM — conveniently serving persons with flexible schedules, which means those with higher income levels than a lot of other people. There are many ways to suppress voting, and this is just one of those many ways.

People who are proud of not voting usually bluff their way through life with attitude and confidence because that’s all they know and they think they’re above it all. Nothing can ever please them or propel them out of their bunker of conceit. Attitude and confidence are the two most easily available elements in the human universe. Everywhere from boardrooms and back alleys to battlefields is littered with the debris caused by attitude and confidence.

I voted for One Republican in Boise, Idaho for Ada County sheriff because the Democrat had withdrawn and accepted a job in Honolulu and good for him. And because the only alternative to the Republican was a neo Nazi who claims that most rape cases are phony because most women make it up. He was essentially saying that he would consciously under investigate rape. Of course he runs under the banner of the “Constitutional Party” which apparently wants to override the constitution and have a one man dictatorship with no checks balances by the legislative and judicial wings.

“But I also want to be clear. Anybody who thinks it’s time to play militia: Eff around and find out,” he continued. “Anybody who thinks it’s time to insult, to deride, to mistreat, to threaten people: Eff around and find out. We do have the cuffs, we do have the jail cells, we do have the Philly juries and we have the state prisons.”

Nate Silver’s cautious final squeaker of a poll favors Harris. There are more women of all stripes in this country who are simply pissed off and not staying in the kitchen and obeying their men and keeping their mouths shut than there are Nazis, angry old men, pseudo patriot biker a-holes, shallow Internet influencer babes, and distorted incel losers and it’s going to make a bigger difference than even he thinks. Prepare to be pantsed GOP.

I guess the simpering twaddle that the Lions can only perform up to snuff in a cozy, rainless, indoors atmosphere was laid to rest.

I have a hard time imagining what someone smart would do. But we are all about speculating so it’s a fair question. I think the first question is actually less about Skubal specifically than it is about the vision of what kind of franchise this is and if you are you willing to make exceptions. Do we run with the big dogs or not? If we are willing to run with the big dogs, what limits are there? Skubal could be a special case — a once in several generations cornerstone player that is the face of the franchise — and if you decide that he’s important enough, you can do everything possible to keep him. Harris has led us to believe that things like this are conceivable. He doesn’t rule it out. I think they will try really hard to keep him, and if he really likes being here and likes the chemistry and camaraderie of the team and the promise of its trajectory, he might stay. But he’s going to have to be treated with respect in regard to all the other offers he sees. I don’t think it’s realistic to expect a family discount from him. Maybe some of these intangibles will be meaningful to him, but I don’t know.

It would be nice if the Lions could just have a sustained drive that ate up time.
