  1. Parker Meadows homers (5) on a fly ball to right center field.
  2. Well, no victory for the kid, but he did well. So now it’s time to just win the game in principle. So does this mean we have three starters?
  3. Tork opens with a 2-bagger.
  4. We need some runs to get the kid a win. I honestly don’t care about pitcher wins, but the sentimentalist in me thinks it would be a nice touch for this game.
  5. At least we got a run. A single spark can start a prairie fire.
  6. Colt Keith singles on a ground ball to left fielder Andrew Benintendi. Kerry Carpenter scores. Matt Vierling to 3rd. Colt Keith to 2nd.
  7. I hope The ump can tell a ball from a strike after that smack in the head
  8. Yeah. When you saw the way the outfielder was tracking it both times it seemed like it just wasn’t enough. And it wasn’t.
  9. Tork hits a foul ball homer and settles for an infield single.
  10. Let’s score some runs!
  11. I am predicting a run outburst for this 3rd inning.
  12. Ty settling down.
  13. The Sox are wearing their City Connect unis for good luck.
  14. Thx. I remember in the very old days of satellite TV — like 40 years ago you could just watch an unfiltered camera view of the playing field while people mumbled and talked and moved around in the background.
  15. How soon before the beginning of the game itself does the pregame show usually start? I’m kind of a neophyte when it comes to watching these games on TV. It’s been a while.
  16. I like the idea of “medical retirement option.” It sounds too good to be true.
  17. In a way, the Tigers seem to be running it up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes. But these don’t seem like moves done out of desperation either. It’s “let’s see what we’ve got!” I’m really enjoying this. And here I thought this last part of the season would be a death march.
  18. Báez returned to Detroit over the weekend to undergo further evaluation. The verdict was he needed an arthroscopic hip procedure. The Tigers transferred Báez to the 60-day injured list Monday, making room on the 40-man roster for right-handed pitcher Ty Madden, who was set to debut against the White Sox.
  19. When the Tigers are in San Diego on their off day and they’re walking past a strip club, I wonder if they’ll all stop and in synchronized unison do a wave and slap their asses like they’re all on second base. It would make a great TikTok video.
  20. I also just noticed that with the three games the Tigers play in San Diego in September, there’s an off day on Tuesday inserted into the middle of the series. On that day I hope no one gets arrested for getting into a fight at a strip club or something. Or they head down to Tijuana and do something dumb that makes headlines.
  21. I’m a sucker. I just shelled out an entire $22 to get the rest of the season for mlb.tv. And luckily, we’ve already played all the games with Seattle so I won’t suffer any blackouts. I do see we still have some Pacific time zone games with San Diego and Oakland on the schedule, times which I hate to endure, although for you in the Eastern Time Zone it really really sucks.
