I’ve never seen a picture of guys from the 1980s teams wearing this road jersey from the 1950s which was also one worn in the 1930s and 1940s. Was this for a special celebration or throwback day?

So, another bullpen game featuring a somewhat suspicious bullpen, and add to that an under performing offense so the unlikelihood of a victory probably means the Tigers will win this one.

I was also expecting bad news about Torres because apparently I’m thin-skinned and looking for reasons to be disappointed. Glad that he’s OK.

Vierling is now on the 26 man roster which I checked on seconds ago. And there are 14 position players instead of 13 now. No new pitcher has been added to the roster

Each team will be facing tonight a pitcher of whom it can be said “the batters have never seen his stuff.” Torres has had one at bat against the Cleveland starter, but Gleyber is definitely not in the lineup. Cleveland could have a leg up on Jobe because he’s already had an extensive record to follow this season even though Guardians haven’t faced him themselves. And maybe Tigers scouts know something about the Cleveland hurler from his time with the Diamondbacks or how he faced other teams last year for the Guardians but at point of direct experience this year, they don’t know a lot about him firsthand.

So what I just read from Beck on MLB is that Vierling will be available by Sunday.

It’s a telling statement of how I’ve gotten so used to the Tigers being good and in the thick of it that winning is expected, and perhaps even blowing it after being in the thick of it is expected, but doing almost nothing and being flat out not in the thick is bewildering. For me doing almost next to nothing is such an interruption of my usual expectations that it seems like a head scratcher when it is instead inevitable for something like this to happen, even God forbid, for several games in a row. I hope that doesn’t happen in this series. The good thing about this team is that it truly has an élan where every game is the beginning of a new day and a new set of possibilities. This is probably just a bump in the road.

A beat down is a beat down is a beat down and what the heck accept it and move onto tomorrow.

This fall of civilizations series is really tremendous. I even bought the book that accompanies the series. Great graphics, great narrative, the whole series is spectacular. Most of the videos are shorter. This is I think the longest one ever.

This is disappointing, But I’m watching a seven hour documentary about the Mongol’s and they sacked Baghdad in 1258 and killed 2 million people so with that in mind I don’t think I have the right to feel too bad about this because there was no tomorrow - immediately at least for 2 million people in Baghdad - but we have a tomorrow.

Third time through the lineup if it ain’t happening now, it probably ain’t happening.
