I’m not sure why throwing slow pitches is a good idea. Is it just that the hitters have to adjust for it and you hope they can’t? Anyway, this is what Hinch said: “Obviously, at that point, you're bringing some levity into the game, and he's going to throw it as slow as he can and see if he can slow the game down,” Hinch said. “No manager loves bringing a position player in in that spot. He did it right -- throw it as slow as you can and let him swing as hard as they can and get through the outing and get to the hotel.”

I suppose this will rub those of you the wrong way that look like this, but nobody in a Gary Larson comic from 40 years ago is particularly attractive. I was on a Far Side Facebook page a few years back and ended up leaving because half the comments were from people who didn’t get the humor, demanded explanations, and were outraged and offended.

I lost 25 pounds going on three years ago - have kept it off - and it was almost entirely due to eating less, which is something people don’t want to hear but it’s true. It’s made a huge difference. I don’t tire as quickly and at age 73 mobility and not tiring quickly is a big deal. I walked 1.9 miles today and that’s 186 cal burned but if I eat 1800 cal a day - which totally works for me because I’m thoughtful about what it is - instead of 2500 cal that’s 700 cal and that’s where all the weight loss really comes from. I never eat anything after 7 PM. The ease with which I have been able to lose weight numerous times is also due to the fact that I’m a man and I don’t have the body of a woman whose ancestors survived the Ice Age by holding onto fat and we’re able to bear children.

I guess it’s a moral victory that the Tigers made at least one Cardinal pitcher work tonight and the Tigers weren’t shut out.

If Nido can hold them scoreless in the bottom of the eighth, he will have an MLB record 0.00 lifetime ERA. And there’s probably 100 guys who have that, but still it’s a distinction.

I want Fieger Law to sue the Cardinals.

The Cardinals are able to get hits and score runs and we can’t. So far, I think that says it all.
