  1. “The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat…“ — ABC Wide World of Sports, 1960s
  2. The hubris of these guys who are used to getting their own way all the time sometimes comes up against reality as an immovable object. He created this problem by refusing to work with the city of Oakland. Now it looks like the Athletics could be an MLB team without an MLB city to call home. You can’t just wave a wand and make a stadium appear out of a 3-D printer. It’s not a video game.
  3. The Astros defeated the Dodgers in Dodger Stadium on the 4th of July 18-1. And the New York Yankees are reeling having lost five games in a row and seven of their last 10.
  4. I’m just wondering if they wouldn’t consciously discuss a problem that exists because of what their own employer is doing.
  5. Could you clarify that?
  6. Mize on Saturday, Skubal on Sunday.
  7. Was there any talk on the pregame about the Guardians pitcher who is temporarily suspended for gambling allegations?
  8. According to the box score of the Tigers had seven fly outs. It felt like more to me. But I just had high hopes every time they hit the ball to the outfield.
  9. Phew. I just dislike playing Cleveland more than anyone else. It’s an accumulation of bad memories and not just in the playoffs last year. Rationally it shouldn’t matter what team it is, but I’m a fan and by definition not rational.
  10. What the heck was going on there with Tommy and Dingler and the ump? I had the sound off.
  11. Oh God. Tommy… hope he’s back to normal.
  12. I know Cleveland’s been struggling, and I know their hitting isn’t great, but just out of habit I’m always biting my nails every time we play them. Nice inning by Holton there just now.
  13. So is the wind blowing in or something? We’re getting a lot of balls hit kind of deep to the outfield.
  14. OBP demon Torres walks.
  15. I reiterate, I don’t want to get rid of him, but everyone’s surprised. To get a ready made major league player you can’t only always give up prospects. I can just see how other teams would be interested in him. Maybe the Tigers now consider him untouchable. I have no more insight into this than anyone else.
  16. Wow, Ramirez is just so good.
  17. I wouldn’t want to get rid of him.
  18. I never like these special hats and I don’t like this one either. It looks too nautical for me. It looks like something the Skipper and Gilligan would wear if they did the show today.
  19. Wenceel’s stock is pretty high now, as high as it might get… so he might be attractive to other teams.
  20. Man Olsen is really laboring, 81 pitches in the first four innings, but so is the other guy.
  21. Zach McKinstry homers (6) on a fly ball to right center field.
  22. Wenceel Pérez homers (7) on a fly ball to center field.
  23. Fleet footed Tork beats out a single.
  24. So it was Malloy, who was optioned to Toledo not Dietrich Enns. Can never have too much good pitching <ducks>
