Deleterious Posted June 27 Posted June 27 What Sam Vecenie said about Lanier in his draft guide. Quote SUMMARY: Lanier is a tremendous shooter and for that reason alone, he’s worth a look from NBA teams. Moreover, he’s shown a true ability to make shots off of movement, something that is valued highly by NBA teams. If he’s going to make it, it’s going to have to be as a specialist shooter, because the rest of his game isn’t at the NBA level. So the question is simply whether or not he is good enough as a shooter to be a specialist. Sam Merrill, who is similarly sized to Lanier and has carved out a strong NBA career, drilled 42 percent of his 759 3-point attempts in his collegiate career. Lanier was at the 40.2 percent mark on 687 attempts. Seth Curry was a bit smaller, but he was at 42 percent from 3 over his final three years at Duke on 531 attempts. Joe Harris was at 40.7 percent, but he was bigger and could shoot over the top of defenders in a way that Lanier won’t. Lanier is close enough to that line as a shooting specialist that I’d be willing to give it a shot and see if he turns into one of the best shooters on Earth. But I don’t think he’s there yet, which means he’s a better two-way bet. 1 Quote
GalagaGuy Posted June 27 Posted June 27 What the hell happened with Lanier's FT% this past season? Quote
RandyMarsh Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Givony actually correctly mocked Lanier to us in his last mock the other day. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Just heard on the radio that Lanier is older than 5 current Pistons and is somehow only a few months younger than Cade and Stewart. Quote
