Some people are hinting at Schröder possibly being a sign and trade.

Don't be Monk, Don't be Monk, Don't be Monk.

what's the alternative?

people are trying to rationalize it by saying detroit is accumulating salaries to make another trade centering on ivey for a bigger fish.

not sure who that would be.

I don't think he understands what a TPE is.

If the Pistons do a sign and trade and ship Schröder out and take nothing back, they create a TPE the size of Schröders contract.  If we bring Monk back at $18.79 million, there is no TPE created.  Unless Schroder signs for like $25 million and they could create one for the difference in the two contracts.  But I can't imagine him getting that much money.

I don't care that we lost Schroder to be honest.  I do care that we currently do not have a backup PG.

Levert isn't a PG but he will probably take on some ballhandling responsibilities, Sasser might get back in the rotation, and/or they might stagger Cade and Ivey's minutes which is what they did some of last season before Ivey went down. I think they need to replace Beasley's shooting, it was a big reason why they won a number of games last season and I don't see Lanier being ready to bring what Beasley brought.

Monk and LaVert are redundant, giving you much of what Ivey does, so adding both might make them a more talented team but not necessarily better

i hate to say it, but getting Monk (and Robinson?!?) after adding LaVert feels like a very Dumars-like move, where Joe always felt he add to be adding regardless of need

still, i am super excited about the young core and would rather rely on internal growth than add guys who are awkward fits

I doubt they are in salary trouble now that Turner left.  But I would be on the phone with Indiana asking about Nembhard, Nesmith, or McConnel.  Any one of those would be better than Monk and Robinson.  Also better than LeVert, but you can't go back on that deal.

Nothing gets signed until the 6th, right? They could pull a reverse-Boozer 🤣

Guerschon Yabusele, 2/12 from the NYK, but Langdon is pissing away 5M on Paul Reed ;(

Players have to want to come here. That's why playing in free agency is almost always a bad idea for Detroit.

Between the lawsuit by his agency and the gambling probe...that blown catch and shoot opportunity that ended the season may turn out to be the perfect metaphor for Beasley's career.

Really hate to see it...he had a fine season, the fans embraced him and it looked like he was happy here
