I was a little shocked he only hit Beasley for 20 corner three assists.  I looked it up and the Pistons do not take a lot of corner threes.  717 total last year, and that ranked them 23rd in the league in attempts.  Phoenix was 1st with just over 900 attempts.

The top 10 is pretty wild.  In order: Phoenix, Utah, Miami, Brooklyn, Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland, Minnesota, Golden State, and San Antonio.

7 of those teams were irrelevant last year.  Either missed the playoffs or lost in the play-in games.  So maybe corner three attempts are not a good indicator of team success.

The schedule is out.

Tough first 5 games to start to the season. They could wind up 2-3 or even 1-4. Levels out a bit in the next 5 games.

at Bulls - W
at Rockets - L
Celtics - Coin Toss
Cavs - L
Magic - L
Mavericks (Mexico City) - Coin Toss
at Grizzlies - Coin Toss
Jazz - W
at Nets (cup) - W
at 76ers - Embiid Toss

Could be as low as 3-7 or as high as 7-3. My guess is they wind up 5-5 .

Good for him. Maybe he should pay his rent and his barber now.

Either way, I don't see him coming back to Detroit:

-He'd have to accept 7.2M where a few other teams could give him 14M.

-Detroit has other players on larger contracts who will be expecting minutes (Robinson/Lavert) and returning players who will need more minutes than last year (Ivey, Thompson, Holland).

-Even other teams who can offer him the same 7M make more sense because then he could get the 25-30 mpg he needs to prove his way into a bigger/longer contract next offseason. Here he won't get those minutes.

Probably why he has not signed with anyone yet.

Shams Charania offers misleading report on Malik Beasley’s status amid federal gambling probe

Quote

If you, like many sports fans, get your NBA news primarily from ESPN and Shams Charania, you likely believe the heavily scrutinized free agent guard Malik Beasley is out of the woods. Just before free agency started last month, news broke that Beasley was implicated in an investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office into illicit gambling on the NBA.

Then suddenly, Charania popped up again last week with an update: Beasley was “no longer a target of the federal gambling investigation.” There was a breaking news post on ESPN’s social channels, a push alert from the app, and a story on the network’s website.

Further reporting at other outlets outlined the reality of Beasley’s situation. At Front Office Sports, longtime NBA reporter Alex Schiffer cited a source with knowledge of the federal investigation who told him that Beasley is indeed still a “subject” of the U.S. attorney probe. The difference between Charania’s phrase, a “target,” and a “subject,” is largely technical.

That was backed up by subsequent coverage at the Detroit Free-Press, who quoted the same lawyers that Charania spoke with. Except in the Free-Press piece, the lawyers were pressed over Beasley’s future. Beasley’s lawyer, Steve Haney, told the Detroit newspaper that he had “no idea” if Beasley could ultimately be charged with a crime stemming from the investigation.

why would they let him back?  is there no one else to rent to?

The Cavs were mentioned as one of the teams interested in him.  If I remember correctly, Gilbert owns that building.  Someone get Pablo on the phone.

I guess the media guys don't actually go in with the players.  Looks like they honored the media people tonight.  Blaha, Woj, Clark Kellog, Michelle Smith, and Jeff Twiss were honored.

Beasley acting like he's Lebron or something with "The Decision".

Who would have thought before last season that Cade would be on a top 15 player list. He sure has come a long way, hopefully he doesn't get all fat and happy with the new success and keeps working hard to get better.

Is there really a decision?  Sign with the team offering the most money.  You're broke, owe a bunch of money, get the bag.  Picking a team offering less money confirms he is terrible with money.
