Agree on both counts. I think the fan base is down on Cossa a little more than we should be. His value on the trade market would be well above his draft position. Lots of teams would see him as an immediate upgrade, and one with room for development.

who would he be an upgrade on and how would we know?  he hasnt played in the nhl.

if a team is in desperate need of a goalie for next year, they probably go the free agent route.  a team could also try to pry hellebuyck from winnipeg since he seems quite unhappy.

if anything, i think we overrate cossa here, like we do most wings' prospects.  were fans.  we want to believe.

Askarov was selected by Nashville with the No. 11 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. The 22-year-old is 1-1-0 with a 2.58 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in three games over two seasons with the Predators.

Askarov hadn’t played in the NHL either. Maybe there are better comps for Cossa, but Askarov was one draft year ahead of Cossa and this trade was a year and a half ago. It’s probably not wildly unrealistic.

Super cool to see Max Plante on the list.  Faulk is there too.

I wonder if Tkachuk is looking  at this roster and wondering what he got himself into.

The thing about Edmonton is you have three fantastic players in McDavid, Draisaitl and Bouchard and a lot of "meh" after that...Nugent-Hopkins and Hyman had decent production last year but they're getting old.

Love the boys giving Axel some face rubs, I feel like the Grand Rapids team is a lot closer than the Red Wings crew.  It's definitely easier when your team is doing well, but I hope the kids can carry this over to next season.

Yes.

A lot of people use the term Yzerplan which I don’t think is fair because Yzerman didn’t come in trying to sell people on a plan other than to draft and develop. But part of that development was for some of these kids to play meaningful hockey together in GR, and they are doing it.

It seems pretty clear by now that next season in the NHL we will see MBN and Mazur again. Probably ASP again. Probably Anton. Maybe a little bit of Amadeus. Almost certainly one or both of Postava and Cossa. Presumably Danielson will be back in the mix too. That’s a lot of guys who are showing right now that they play with a level of energy and camaraderie that doesn’t always seem evident in the big league club.

i think you'll see mbn and mazur out of camp.  one of postava and cossa for sure (if not both).

anton will likely need a little more time.  asp too after this year's nhl showing.

who knows about danielson.  did the injury affect him in detroit?  part of me hopes so because he wasnt very impressive when he was here.

right now you have:

blank-larkin-raymond

debrincat-copp-blank (kane FA)

finnie-kasper-blank

rasmussen-compher-appleton

edvinsson-seider

faulk-aljo

chairot-blank

gibson

with no changes and if you assume they dont bring back Kane (and i think they will bring back Kane), 3 forward spots and 1 defenseman.  again, 2 forward spots if they bring back Kane.

i dont think you can expect a playoff team unless you get a proven player on line 1.  is that kasper?  do you start finnie there again?  or do you trade for someone?

i bet two prospects are traded for a forward.  danielson might have enough value to be the centerpiece to get an ep40, but who knows?  he hasnt been very good.  do you have to part with mbn or bear instead?

I assume Kane will be back. I also assume that between a trade or FA signing, Stevie will either bring in a winger to play with Larkin and Raymond, or a center to play between Kane and ADB. (I prefer the latter because I hope MBN can become the former.)

It would be fantastic if Chiarot can finally get bumped to the third pairing. But ASP needs a place to play in the NHL and he needs a reliable defenseman to be paired with and that is not Chiarot.

i see johannson before asp.  or wallinder/buium just because of their size.

I have to imagine it did.  As far as I know it his back keeping him out, and that stemmed from the Buffalo cross check in preseason.
