who would he be an upgrade on and how would we know?  he hasnt played in the nhl.

if a team is in desperate need of a goalie for next year, they probably go the free agent route.  a team could also try to pry hellebuyck from winnipeg since he seems quite unhappy.

if anything, i think we overrate cossa here, like we do most wings' prospects.  were fans.  we want to believe.

Askarov was selected by Nashville with the No. 11 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft. The 22-year-old is 1-1-0 with a 2.58 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in three games over two seasons with the Predators.

Askarov hadn’t played in the NHL either. Maybe there are better comps for Cossa, but Askarov was one draft year ahead of Cossa and this trade was a year and a half ago. It’s probably not wildly unrealistic.
