Hongbit Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I like Vit. Don’t think he’s a star but guy can shoot the lights out. He needs more minutes which he wasn’t getting the ATL. Quote
Deleterious Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago Is that like when they tell a coach he wont be fired? Quote
Deleterious Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago That's the problem. There is going to be a bidding war for him. Quote

This organization values his leadership maybe more than what he does on court. They won’t risk the need to get better at the risk of throwing off chemistry. There aren’t any big moves made without moving him and that contract. MPJ, JJJ, TM3, Giannis, or anyone close to that level is going to happen. It's a mistake for a couple of reasons. He's not good enough to be a starting 4 anymore and they lose the ability to absorb his expiring contract into next years' cap space if they don't trade him. I suppose they can re-sign him anyway but I'm kind of meh on that tbh. I've said this before but this isn't a championship caliber team. No team with Robinson and Harris in a starting lineup not to mention a non-factor offensively in Ausar is serious about winning a Championship. The Pistons are deep and they play very good defense but they can't shoot, their starters just don't stack up well against other contenders and they don't have a #2 option, a legit #2 scorer and/or shot creator. This season has been a great story and a fun ride but I see playoff struggles ahead for this roster with all their flaws. Edited 11 hours ago by NYLion 2 1 Quote

Are you a fan of bringing in MPJ? Do you have any concerns about his lack of defense and inflated stats on a bad team? Personally, I'm for it as long as the price isn't too crazy. His shooting and overall scoring would be a seamless fit on this team and I think this is one of the few teams that can hide his defensive deficiencies. Trey Murphy would be my #1 target. I'd trade four 1sts+ for him without hesitation but I doubt he's available mainly because he has such a nice team friendly contract for 3 years after this one. Edited 10 hours ago by NYLion Quote
Hongbit Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I agree completely and hope that I’m proven wrong. I’m tired of all the GM’s in town afraid to make a big deadline move because they overvalue their current roster. 1 Quote

Not my first choice, but I feel he is the most realistic guy we can land. So yeah, I would like it if they traded for him. His defense is bad and is a concern. But at some point you have to bite the bullet and get some legit scoring on the team. If I'm taking a chance on a bad defensive guy, better he scores 25 PPG than someone like LeVert at 12-14 PPG. Inflated stats on a bad team do not worry me with him. When a guy puts up numbers on a bad team, first thing I look at is efficiency and MPJ has a 61.8% TS% which is pretty efficient. 47 guys have attempted more than 15 shots per game this year. MPJ's TS% would rank as the 11th highest of that group. He is very efficient and that should translate to the Pistons with no problem. Quote

Deleterious Posted 9 hours ago Author Posted 9 hours ago If New Orleans would do it, I would package Duren and Ron for Murphy. That won't shock anyone since I don't think much of those two. I would also trade Ausar plus this years first round pick for Murphy, and nobody is a bigger Ausar fanboy than I am. But he is extension eligible this summer and he is going to start to lose trade value. What does an extension look like for a guy who cant shoot? Portland gave Camara 4/$80 million this summer. He isn't as good on defense as Ausar, but he is light years better on offense. He shoots 35% from three on 7 attempts per game. You can't pay Thompson $25-$30 million a year being that limited on offense. I'm not looking to give Thompson away. But if I can pry loose a guy like Murphy with him, I would do it. Quote

I feel a sharpshooter at his size on this roster would make a huge difference. The question is cost, I can't see him coming cheap so what would you be willing to give up? Holland+two or three 1sts+Levert/Harris? If they give up that much MPJ has to be more than a two year fix so they'll likely have to max contract him after that so it's tricky. This is why I'd go all out for Trey Murphy, not only because I feel he's a better two way player than MPJ but also because his contract is a big selling point. Ultimately I don't see Langdon making a big deal like this but I think this is the type of year they should go for it. 36-12 seasons are rare and the east will likely never be this weak again plus this is probably the last year in a long time that the Pistons will have cap flexibility so now is a good time to strike. What do you think of a smaller deal for somebody like Portis to fit into the exception? He can really shoot and has the personality that would really fit on this team. Not much defense I don't think but he'd satisfy the shooting quota. Edited 6 hours ago by NYLion Quote
Deleterious Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago I agree they need to make a move and go for it. If they move Giannis you can probably get Portis for a couple of seconds. This year's first at the most, which is basically going to be a second rounder. Quote
Deleterious Posted 6 hours ago Author Posted 6 hours ago Hmmm. Not real sure what they even have to offer. Quote
casimir Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Go back a year. I tell you people are suggesting that the Pistons need to make a deal and go for it. Also, the Indiana Hoosiers have just gone undefeated and won the NCAAF title. After you’re done (justifiably) mocking me, pick which one dropping your life savings on. Quote

buddha Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago my favorite bulls management moment was when they insisted they needed to get younger and more athletic to build around jimmy butler, so they signed dwyane wade, rajon rondo, and drafted denzel valentine. the jokes just write themselves. Quote
buddha Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago one more thing on the bulls - because bulls suffering is the best kind of schadenfreude this side of buckeye schadenfreude - the heat were so pissed they blew a game to the bulls on saturday that they beat them by 43 points tonight, leading by as many as 54. the bulls shot 15% from 3. former #4 pick in the draft patrick williams was 0-7, which is only remarkable because he actually cared enough to shoot 7 times, and potential piston coby white went 0-6. one of his off nights, of which there are many, usually against teams that care to try on defense (make note for any future playoff game appearances). Deleterious Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago I love White didn't play last night, Bulls win. He plays tonight, they lose by half a hundred. Quote
