I don’t see any world where they trade Tobias.   This organization values his leadership maybe more than what he does on court.  They won’t risk the need to get better at the risk of throwing off chemistry.

There aren’t any big moves made without moving him and that contract.   MPJ, JJJ, TM3, Giannis, or anyone close to that level is going to happen.

It's a mistake for a couple of reasons. He's not good enough to be a starting 4 anymore and they lose the ability to absorb his expiring contract into next years' cap space if they don't trade him. I suppose they can re-sign him anyway but I'm kind of meh on that tbh.

I've said this before but this isn't a championship caliber team. No team with Robinson and Harris in a starting lineup not to mention a non-factor offensively in Ausar is serious about winning a Championship. The Pistons are deep and they play very good defense but they can't shoot, their starters just don't stack up well against other contenders and they don't have a #2 option, a legit #2 scorer and/or shot creator. This season has been a great story and a fun ride but I see playoff struggles ahead for this roster with all their flaws.

MPJ out tonight for personal reasons. Hopefully that means apartment shopping in Detroit.

Are you a fan of bringing in MPJ? Do you have any concerns about his lack of defense and inflated stats on a bad team?

Personally, I'm for it as long as the price isn't too crazy. His shooting and overall scoring would be a seamless fit on this team and I think this is one of the few teams that can hide his defensive deficiencies.

Trey Murphy would be my #1 target. I'd trade four 1sts+ for him without hesitation but I doubt he's available mainly because he has such a nice team friendly contract for 3 years after this one.

I agree completely and hope that I’m proven wrong.  I’m tired of all the GM’s in town afraid to make a big deadline move because they overvalue their current roster.

I like Vit.  Don’t think he’s a star but guy can shoot the lights out.    He needs more minutes which he wasn’t getting the ATL.

Sort of a younger Duncan...?

Not my first choice, but I feel he is the most realistic guy we can land.  So yeah, I would like it if they traded for him.

His defense is bad and is a concern.  But at some point you have to bite the bullet and get some legit scoring on the team.  If I'm taking a chance on a bad defensive guy, better he scores 25 PPG than someone like LeVert at 12-14 PPG.

Inflated stats on a bad team do not worry me with him.  When a guy puts up numbers on a bad team, first thing I look at is efficiency and MPJ has a 61.8% TS% which is pretty efficient.  47 guys have attempted more than 15 shots per game this year.  MPJ's TS% would rank as the 11th highest of that group.  He is very efficient and that should translate to the Pistons with no problem.

If New Orleans would do it, I would package Duren and Ron for Murphy.  That won't shock anyone since I don't think much of those two.

I would also trade Ausar plus this years first round pick for Murphy, and nobody is a bigger Ausar fanboy than I am.  But he is extension eligible this summer and he is going to start to lose trade value.  What does an extension look like for a guy who cant shoot?  Portland gave Camara 4/$80 million this summer.  He isn't as good on defense as Ausar, but he is light years better on offense.  He shoots 35% from three on 7 attempts per game.  You can't pay Thompson $25-$30 million a year being that limited on offense.

I'm not looking to give Thompson away.  But if I can pry loose a guy like Murphy with him, I would do it.
