The backups are Dabney, McCreary, and Whiteside. That is grim. And Rock Ya-Sin is a 3rd corner who is a starter at this point. He hasn't had a pick in 6 years. I have to believe they will make a move for another corner. Having to play Vildor a couple years ago basically cost them a superbowl trip. If we can get a healthy Branch back, it'll be a huge boost to the secondary. I expect that he'll play wherever they need him the most, whether that's replacing Maddox at strong safety or whoever is the starter at nickel. Either way, ideally, you're just trying to bridge six weeks or so for his return. The Saints, Bills, Jets, Panthers, and Cardinals are all that stand between the Lions and the bye week. At least Tyler Shough, Geno Smith, Bryce Young, and Jacoby Brissett don't exactly give off "torching a secondary" vibes. Kerby would just be gravy, but it's hard to say I'm counting on it. We'll see what the verdict is on Rakestraw though. This is his 2nd or 3rd injury scare in this training camp alone. Part of the problem is likely getting his body back used to being as agile and in game shape as it was three years ago, the last time he was actually playing football. And another part of the problem is mental, where his psychology is scared to suffer another season ending injury. "Lower body injury" could be turf toe or an ankle sprain for all we know. He walked off on his own power. He might be back soon and it'd be good for the Lions if he is. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted 23 minutes ago Author Posted 23 minutes ago Serious question, is there a greater than 50% chance Rakestraw is given an injury designation or straight up cut and doesn't the roster out of camp? I think that there is. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted 21 minutes ago Author Posted 21 minutes ago Did Kenny Moore sign with anyone yet? I don't think he has and he might be a veteran player worth taking a look at for CB. Quote
