tiger2022 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 (edited) Paul Skenes is destroying the Rockies tonight. If ONeill Cruz had known how to catch routine flyballs in the season opener, Skenes would have an ERA around 1.00 on the season Edited May 13 by tiger2022 Quote

tiger2022 Posted May 14 Posted May 14 It's crazy how a guy like Paddack just keeps getting chance after chance after failing miserably constantly. But Verlander might he back this season, so the Tigers still have a guy who can give up 6 or 7 runs in 3 innings Quote

I guess there's a reason no other team wanted him last off-season. Quote

The problem is mostly scoring runs, our pitching has kept us in most games. I agree, it's not on Hinch. We need a RH power hitting RF or DH. We didnt address our September drop-off in the winter and it seems to have carried over. Edit; oh, and it's time for Tork to make a Toledo visit. Edited May 19 by Sports_Freak Quote

They were hitting fine as a team before all the injuries, so bringing back Torres, Carpenter and Baez would surely help. bringing back Meadows and Baez would also help their abysmal defense. None of them are great players, but they are better than Short, Perez, Lee and Jung. Losing Skubal kind of hurts too. 1 Quote

We are dealing with no fewer than 11 injuries to players on our 40-man roster. The Phillies had only one. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Something I never saw before. Seattle manager came out to talk to his pitcher and went back to the dugout. Before the next pitch, he tried to come back out and make a pitching change. The umpire made him go back to the dugout and didnt allow him to change pitchers. Announcer said "how's that for a vote of confidence?" Lmao Quote
tiger2022 Posted May 21 Posted May 21 Crazy stat. Will Clark homered in his first at bat in A ball, AA, AAA, and the Majors. Quote

At the time, I thought he was overrated, maybe because he peaked at age 25. Looking back at his numbers today though, he was really good and really consistent his whole career. Quote

Looking back at his numbers today though, he was really good and really consistent his whole career. He said he could have hit 30+ home runs a year but would have been a .260 hitter and hitting .300 was important to him. The 1989 NLCS he was 13 for 20 for a smooth .650 average. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Starting pitcher for the Nationals was throwing a no hitter but got hurt after 5 innings. They brought in a reliever and the announcers said he can warm up as long as he needs to. Not true, I saw last year that there actually is a limit on warmups for an injury replacement. I had never heard about a limit but there is one. Quote
papalawrence Posted Monday at 06:56 PM Posted Monday at 06:56 PM (edited) Misiorowski is must see tv. Watching him now. He's struck out 7 of the first 9. Along with him Schlittler, Skenes, Skubal and others. Great day and age to see truly electric stuff until they need the knife Edit: no-no through 5. 10k. 1bb. 64 pitches Edited Monday at 07:26 PM by papalawrence Quote
tiger2022 Posted Wednesday at 10:34 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:34 PM (edited) Will Kyle Schwarber be the first guy to hit 500 home runs not associated with roids and not make the hall of fame? He's got 361 and is on a nice pace to get to 500. Stanton has 456 but I can't see him playing enough to get 44 more. Better yet, who gets to 500 among active players Stanton 456, trout 417, Judge 385. Machado 378, goldschmidt 377, Harper 376, Freeman 373, schwarber 361, arenado 360, Santana 335, McCutchen 333, Suarez 328, Perez 312, olson 303, ozuna 301. Judge should make it easily and I think Schwarber gets there. I don't think any if the other ones do. Judge and trout are the same age but I feel like trout is on his last legs. Machado has a big contract for the next 6 or 7 years but he is Spencer torkelson level of awful right now. Harper is interesting. He'll have to hit 25 a year for the next 5 years. I just don't think he'll do it. Edited Wednesday at 10:43 PM by tiger2022 Quote
GalagaGuy Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I know it isn't easy being behind the plate, but I still have no idea how an ump can make this call. Quote

Here's what I don't understand: were J.D. and whoever is supplanting Boog sleeping during the actual pitch? How did they not jump right on that in the moment and say it wasn't even close? I understand being cautious on very close calls, but this was not that. Quote
