my recollection is that usually the forerunner to tommy john surgery is 'forearm tightness.'  i personally can't think of just 'arm soreness' as that.  did the genericized warning change without me noticing?

This does seem true. And it seems like most pitchers have it these days. A Yankee prospect was pitching against us last week and the Yes announcers were celebrating his ability to throw 100+ MPH. My reaction? "Has he had his TJ surgery yet?"

any time they say "elbow" I say "uh oh".

The human arm is not meant to do what these guys are asked to do now.  Consistently throw in the 90s from a very early age.    Plus, spin rates are so important now.  That puts a lot of torque on the elbow.   Plus these guys are throwing breaking pitches when they are really young - like little league age - and from what I always understood is that was really bad for the elbow at such a young age.       So many TJ surgeries happen now because we're asking these guys to be machines and they're just humans.

But Mickey Lolich (rest in peace) pitched 376 innings one year.      Mickey didn't constantly throw in the 90s.   Few guys did back then

yeah, those are definitely related.  the forearm thing fits with that, too.  that's a funny thing about what is going on with stanton.  tennis elbow has a lot to do with forearm tendons-muscles.  i've had it, and there are many things you can do per normal, but others, even simple ones like opening a bottle, can be really painful

I keep tearing my rotator cuff. Extending my arm to the side and picking anything up is impossible. Picking stuff up from the front is perfectly fine. And I'm told it's just a slight tear, let it heal naturally. Gets better and I re-hurt it. Doctor smiles and blames....getting old. Hey doctor, it's still better than NOT getting old. 🤣🤣🤣
