IdahoBert Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I thought AJ‘s remarks regarding Phil Garner in the post game show were really good. Quote

He basically said that he and Phil had a lot in common, having worn the same uniforms and occupied the same positions and that even though Garner left the Tigers under less than favorable circumstances, Garner had nothing but good things to say about the Detroit organization and the city of Detroit. AJ was actually pretty somber. Quote
CMRivdogs Posted 51 minutes ago Posted 51 minutes ago My second hand Phil Gardner story. Part of my wife's job when we moved to Detroit was to manage the Tigers radio network. WXYT had won the contract after several years at WJR. My wife had a get aquatinted meeting with Phil and his wife shortly before the season started. She mentioned how I was a Pirate fan growing up and that our son was born approximately 9 months after the 1979 World Series. The kicker, he's our only child. His wife laughed, he turned an interesting shade of pink. Quote
