Well, my thought was this.   Mets, you better act fast if you want him because Philly will fire their guy and take him.     I would take that rumor very seriously.    I don't know if Thomson gets fired at this moment if Cora hadn't become available.  I think the Phillies may have already hired Cora before they fired him.

I don't think any of us know if there's an opt out in his contract or not. I'm absolutely positive he's staying here but sometimes there are opt outs written in contracts. Aren't there?

I found the last time it happened, and Dave Dombrowski was the one who fired the manager who went elsewhere.

Billy Martin was hired by Texas after Detroit fired him, in season. 

And in 1975, when Texas fired him, he took over the Yankees. Lol

Jeez...reading about Billy. So interesting. One of the times he got fired from the Yankees, he was replaced by Bob Lemon,  who had just been fired by the WSox. They don't make them like Billy Martin anymore...
