How is he getting a raw deal? He was a #5 pick, landing in the city where his mom played. Then he's had injury after injury and got traded, while the Pistons flourished without him. That would be hard for most everyone. Then he got cut and so far is out of the nba. So yes, I have concern for his mental health. He said publically he was suicidal after the first injury. I hope he is getting some healing, and more than just his leg injury. I'm not mocking his faith. On livestream, Jaden Ivey says he had suicidal thoughts after breaking his leg - The Athletic https://share.google/0zWdX52IycB0sbiMt He also said he had been abused as a child and had turned to abusing others as an adult. He clearly does need help. Quote

Spurs have a lot of people to pay coming up. I would have done the same thing as Victor because winning championships makes you more money in the long run (sponsorships, legacy, etc) and really, these guys are making hundreds of times a normal person's lifetime salary in just one year (not even counting sponsorships)...he'll be fine. He's making sure his team has more money to spend on good players to help him win without hitting aprons and repeater taxes in the future that make it harder to build a repeating championship winner. Smart move. There is absolutely no issue going into the luxury tax that keeps you from paying your guys, other than ownership being cheap. Victor should have hung up and called a press conference. He should have said SA ownership wants me to take less money. Ownership needs to immediately sell the team or trade me if they are not willing to pay to build a team capable of winning the title. My favorite part of this. He helped a team that spent max money on De'Aaron Fox. Victor is not on a max. Fox on a max. That is the ownership that he is helping. What a ****ing idiot. Quote

If he wins DPOY, MVP, or makes All-NBA next year, he would have qualified for the 30% extension, and 25% would no longer be a max contract. Quote

Yes, but isn’t 25% the normal, non all NBA, etc max-so like Fox? Just not the super max 30% he qualified for? Quote

Max contract values are based on years of service in the league. 1-7 years is 25%. 8-10 years is 30%. 10+ years is 35%. Then the 25% and 30% can get bumped up a level if you meet certain criteria. There is nothing above 35%. 1 Quote
