  1. Just thinking out loud but I think a rental is less likely to get Holmes to trade. I think he's going to want something more than just a 2-3 months of a player for a pick. Edit to add: I also worry about if the Lions are trying to get something better and so waiting on Smith... that can bite you in the butt. If we're waiting for something better and the Brown get an offer from someone else while we're waiting might they pull the trigger and then we're left with nothing? There was a rumor earlier that the Browns were the ones waiting, hoping for a better offer than what the Lions were willing to do. That would make me less nervous if true.
  2. This is honestly so disrespectful of Holmes. I keep hitting F5 and still nothing done. Doesn't he know that I won't be able to get a good nights sleep like this??
  3. If it's the Browns holding out hoping for something better that makes me feel better than if the Lions were holding out hoping the Browns would drop the price. I was worried that the Lions would be too stingy and someone else would pick up the trade pieces before the Lions could.
  4. True... which means he might be slightly more shy about pulling the trigger.
  5. Probably just generic roster moves. Both these players were elevated from the practice squad on Nov. 2nd so they were probably simply depth pieces that are going back down to the Practice Squad after the game. Probably...
  6. 24 hours after it was supposedly all but done that Smith was heading to the Lions and still no news. So... do we think the Lions are still shopping for other options? Do we think the Browns are asking for too much? Do we think that the original rumors were wrong? Or is Smith just trying to get Brodric Martin to give up 99 before he'll agree to come here?
  7. And...? Look, I'm not saying that it's a good thing if he said that, but on my list of things I'm gonna be upset about the coach of a losing team on a miserable night getting peeved and maybe saying F.O. to maybe the opposing team is very far down my list of thing to be upset around. Not saying you are getting riled up about it MB... just saying it seems like just a low level news item that I wonder why Dov is even commenting on it.
  8. After a rough 1-4 start the Rams have won 3 straight and are getting Jackson and Avila back for their OL this week. I think the NFC West might be interesting to watch the next few months.
  9. Just not carrying a suitcase... he's doing with while wearing BLUE! so, ya know...
  10. Campbell is has the 8th most regular season wins as a Lions head coach: Wayne Fontes: 66 Potsy Clark: 53 George Wilson: 53 Buddy Parker: 47 Joe Schmidt: 43 Monte Clark: 43 Jim Caldwell: 36 Dan Campbell: 31
  11. https://x.com/kylemalzhan/status/1853239764817703260?s=46 Now, there ABSOLUTELY are times when this can be true. A worse team comes in and plays really well, the other team makes some mistakes and you get an upset game. That is NOT what happened here. The Lions won the NFCNorth last year. They made it to the NFC Championship game. The Lions this year are 6-1. They beat the Vikings at their home while you lost to them at your home. The Lions are routinely being ranked top 1-3 in power rankings. This was NOT a case of a lesser team upsetting a better team.
  12. I'd say grab Arden Key from the Titans too. Listening to the guy from Locked on Titans, he seemed to think that Key could be had for a 7th that could bump to a 6th with various conditions. Obviously this is just one podcasters opinion but if accurate I'd do that in a heart beat for more rushing depth.
  13. I didn't realize that he's thrown 10 INTs for far this year, and that's with missing 2 games. He hasn't had a game year were he hasn't thrown an INT. (Compare that with Willis who hasn't thrown an INT yet in his 2+ games... but has thrown 3 TDs.) Love has a completion percentage of just 61.2%. Looking at the 25 QBs who've thrown at least 200 times this season, wanna guess where he ranks? 25th. I don't think Love is necessarily bad, but I'm also not as worried about him as I might have been earlier.
  14. Also I'd be remiss if I didn't mentioning Bates given that I was a big fanboy of his from his season with the Panthers. I'll be honest with you was was always a little nervous that playing in the NFL was going to get to Bates and he'd end up folding under the pressure. The early missed extra point in the season didn't help. But that's turned out to be his one and only blemish so far. And he was perfect in GB in the cold, windy, rain, nailing a 27 yarder plus 3 extra points. Out of 31 extra point attempts he's made 30. For FGs he's been perfect. 3 for 3 from the 20-29 yard range 5 for 5 from the 30-39 yard range 3 for 3 from the 40-49 yard range 1 for 1 from the 50+ yard range
  15. My biggest fear with Branch, right now, is that the league tries to save face by doubling down on the punishment. Kinda like when instead of admitting that there was a mistake by the refs in the Dallas game last year they put out there that the Lions did it wrong and issues specific directions on what teams were supposed to do (which is actually what the Lions did). I can totally see the NFL hearing people complain that the ejection was unfair by say: "Oh, you think that? Well, not only was it TOTALLY the right thing to do but it was SOOOO bad of a hit that we're also going to suspend Branch for 3 games just to show you how positive we are that it was a bad hit." Now whenever someone brings up a bad hit and asks why that person didn't get ejected but Branch did the obvious rebuttal will be: Well, that may have been a bad hit, but it wasn't so bad that the player was suspended, was it?
  16. The Titans become the first team to face the Lions and then WIN their game the next week this year. But, it sorta makes sense. The Lions didn't do that much punishing on offense because they just didn't need too. I mean TOTAL of 94 yards through the air. And on the ground if we take out the 70 yard run from Gibbs, the Lions ran for a TOTAL of 94 yards. Their offense may have been banged around a bit but defensively they were probably pretty fresh.
  17. Lions remaining schedule... now of course: Any Given Sunday and injuries might be a factor, etc. etc. etc. But, on paper: @ Texans: The Texans are good and it's at their place, but Lions will have Jamo back and hopefully some DL help. This won't be an easy win, but I think the Lions are the better team and enough better that they can make up for it being a road game. On paper: Win. Jaguars: A 2-7 team coming to Detroit. On paper: Win. @ Colts: They may not be horrible, but they're also not good. On paper: Win. Bears: After some early success, Bears are falling off a bit. Like the Colts they're not horrible, but they're also not good and it'll be in Detroit. On paper: Win. Packers: If they get healthy, especially on defense, they may be tougher. But the Lions also played without Jamo, without Branch for most of the game, and may have some defense help coming via trade, so that should offset the Packers possible gains via healthy people. Plus we beat them in their house, now they have to come here. On paper: Win. Bills: 7-2, but they're coming to Detroit. I haven't watched much Bills this year so this is hard to say. This may be one of the tougher teams we're facing this year down the stretch. Still, the Lions have a better record right now and this will be a home game. It's close and will depend on a LOT of factors between now and then, but right now... On paper: Win. @ Bears: We'll have to see what the Bears do between now and then. Do they find themselves and start putting it together? If so, then maybe this is a tough outdoor contest. However, right now it doesn't look like that will happen. On paper: Win. @ 49ers: The 9ers had some injury issues, but so have the Lions. If they get their weapons back and get on a roll this will have to be re-evaluated. However we can only go based on what we know right now. On paper: Win. (But! I reserve the right to re-evaluate later.) Vikings: We beat them in Minnesota, we should be able to beat them at home. On paper: Win. It would not shock me if the Lions win out. I'm not predicting it because there are going to be lots and lots of things happening. But purely looking at it on paper, it's reasonable to expect a win in each remaining game.
  18. Goff has averaged just 115 passing yards the last two games. Maybe the Lions should trade Goff for some defensive help and see what Hooker can do.
  19. The green mouth guard stuck in the helmet would be a give-away.
  20. Screw you refs, we still got Kerby!
  21. Can't prevent the NFL from ejecting teammates.
  22. I think you'd have a hard time even calling that targeting. He was dropping into the hit, not launching himself. Bad hit? Yes. Foul, Yes. Ejection? Come on...
  23. That it was a foul? Absolutely. You, unfortunately, see hits like this in pretty much any game. It was a bad hit, Branch should do better. But I've NEVER see an ejection for something as (relatively speaking here) benign as this.
