I agree he only kept us in the game because Arizona is struggling. But the bottom line is he put us in a position to win. He made pitches when he needed to. He definitely didn't have his best stuff but what's expected from a #6 starter? Oh well...

So he stunk but he didn't stunk?

We were in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago and happened to drive past the old Tropicana Hotel. Site of the proposed ballpark for the Philadelphia/Kansas City/Oakland Athletics. What a horrible location. Just something else to clog traffic on the strip during game nights.

Especially since there seems to be vacant property not far off the strip that may have room for ample parking unlike the Tropicana site. Do they really expect tourists to attend games, especially in the hot Vegas Summer months?

Being right on the strip strikes me as very odd.  The Raiders are off strip, maybe even on the other side of the freeway off of the strip?  The Golden Knights I think are along the back side of the strip.

This whole situation seems greasy to me.  The exit from Oakland is one thing.  And to your point, why would they need to knock down property right on the strip for a new ball yard?  And why move when the new place isn’t going to be ready for so long?  And then there is the connection between the Athletics’ owner and the Sacramento Kings’ owner with Sacramento serving as an “interim” home.

  3. I’m not sure the TV angles were conclusive on whether or not Barnhart got a tag on Carpenter.

I don’t necessarily have any qualms about sending Carpenter there.  The thing that surprised me from watching it on TV, I wouldn’t have guessed he’d have been quick enough to get around the bases in time to make it a close play.  Granted, the ball caromed high off of the wall and there was a bit of a fumble on the ball in the outfield.

Then the Baez leap and throw in the next half inning.  Heck of an attempt by he on the catch and throw and by Rogers at the plate.  The throw was skipped and Rogers couldn’t catch it cleanly.  But I don’t know if the play was there for them without playing it absolutely perfectly.

    Thems the breaks, I guess.

Again no.  Orange County has its own population of over 3 million people.    It’s the 6th largest county by population in the United States.  They have had their own team separate from the Dodgers for 56 years.

Why ruin the narrative with facts?

Manning kept us in the game. I'm not being critical. And Arizona doesn't look like the same team that made it to the World Series last season. They look more like the WSox...lol

Manning allowed 13 baserunners vs 15 outs.  He didn’t keep them in the game.  Arizona failed to run away with the game.

First Italian ice of the season today. When my dad was alive, we’d hit this place in March.  Even when he couldn’t remember my name, he still knew where we were when we pulled up to this place.

Had lemon ice today, in your memory, Dad.IMG_4044.jpeg

My wife’s grandmother was well into Alzheimer’s when I came around.  But I could tell she was a sweetheart when she had her wits about her because she’d ask you how you were doing and wish you Happy New Year no matter what day it was.  She also know at Thanksgiving when her wine glass was empty and to simply hold it up and say quite matter of factly “mine’s empty”.

That was pretty hilarious! There was a ton of jawing between innings and it was getting pretty heated for a bit!

They showed it a bit on Ballys.  The Gallon and Flaherty were yelling back and forth at each other.  Then they showed Lovullo yelling and motioning with his hand (yapping motion) at one point.

How close were you to it?  Could you hear any of the banter?

I think Tork or anyone would become the Tigers permanent DH only when we basically fill every other position with average or better major leaguers, like the Dodgers and Braves and Phillies and Yankees have. And even then I’m not sure we’re going to want to pay him Boras money to stick around and do that.

Although I have wondered whether getting Tork off the field altogether would be the magic bullet to finally turn him into the elite hitter everyone has thought he’s always had the potential to become.

Why not move him back to 3B?

Would I throw years at Skubal to keep him around into the next decade? Hmmm … Throwing years at pitchers almost never ends well. As it turns out, with Boras at the helm, it’s a near certainty we don’t get a chance to extend him before he goes on the market anyway.

Hasn’t he already had two major arm injuries?  Both TJ?

Ive seen some mocks that have us taking college OF Honeycutt from NC.  He's got a nice collection of tools including 60 power and speed...but I don't think a 28% k rate will fly with the Tigers current mgmnt.

Rainer would be nice if he's still there.

I like the idea of drafting up the middle if the choices aren't too much of a reach.  SS, CF, SP, C.

If it can speed up the end of games in the NBA, I'd be for it. But why would the NBA do it? There's less ad venue if you have less commercial timeouts.

If you change the rule to 3 players need to stand right next to each other and do the X thing, maybe they can get OnlyFans to sponsor this reset timeout?

Jesus......I wasn't disagreeing with him or trying to be contrary...just pointing out the most recent example of a pitcher other than Verlander or Max being that dominant was a indeed a long time ago.

Verlander and Scherzer as Tigers are starting to feel like a long time ago.

Can you place bets anywhere on when this Skenes guy blows out his arm? I know it’s unethical to do this, but I’m just wondering if it’s legal because lots of unethical things are legal. I’m not wishing ill on him. It’s just that there aren’t many human bodies made to endure this kind of punishment and injury seems inevitable.

We might know a guy that knows guy that knows a guy that knows
