all we need now is for Torkelson and Greene to hit in the same ballgames. In the last 7, Tork is at 320, Greene has gone ice cold to 138.

So, given Torkelson's week, albeit maybe BABIP aided, do they move him up the lineup a bit?

    TORK BOMB

He’s had a pretty good week.  Hopefully he’s figured something out and we’re seeing this going forward.  They need to lengthen the lineup out as much as possible.  A rejuvenated Torkelson and a maturing Keith would really help out.

I just looked it up, and pink bats on Mother’s Day were first used in 2006, which is even longer ago, and if I’m not mistaken, the only player in the majors today who also played in 2006 was Justin Verlander, who, either for nothing or not for nothing, is not sporting even a stitch of pink anywhere on his person. At least not visibly. 😁

Hold on, Verlander has top seniority among active MLB players?  I hadn’t thought of that, but I guess it makes sense.  Damn I’m old.

NIL is a ridiculous system, the donors who are funding it are being had, and the Universities that are losing development funds to all their other priorities in the redirection of those donor dollars to Ephemeroptera like player salaries are ultimately acting against their own institutional interests..... and the Sun also rises in the East.

Oh, I’m not saying NIL is the best and cleanest business model.  But Urbz suddenly reaches for morals?  Come on…..

What’s Benetti doing today? Calling an Iowa State women’s spring volleyball game?

Cincinnati at San Francisco.  Gonna be a short night for him traveling back for tomorrow’s Tiger game.

Old friend Buck Farmer is on the bump right now.  Old friend Candelario at 1B.  Oh, the memories….

"If Lou Holtz or Urban Meyer or Marvin Harrison Jr., or C.J. Stroud, they want to go use their name and help sell cars, help a business, that's great," Meyer said. "But to have a 17-year-old demand money for a visit, to pay these players a lot of money to go visit a charity for 20 minutes and they write you a check for $50,000, that's cheating. That's not what this is all about. I'm very disappointed in where it went."

    That's cheating?  OK, Urbz.....

The average career WAR for picks 1-5 is 13.3.  The average WAR for the #1 pick is probably higher (can't find a recent #) but it's also likely inflated by a small number of elite players and so far there doesn't appear one of those from the 2020 draft.  So, I would agree with Oblong that I'd be mildly disappointed if Tork ended up like Rob Deer, but it wouldn't be outside the expected performance for a high pick.  Tony Clark was another one like that.
