It seems like the Pistons have caught quite a number of opponents at the right time. It seems like they’ve missed playing against some of the better players in the league either by injury or rest or whatever. I could be wrong about that and someone smarter than myself will provide a link to a metric that shows I’m a fool, but it seems like they’ve had some good fortune in that regard. Edit to add: And if I’m right, nothing against the Pistons for taking advantage of short handed teams. Kudos to them. But it does give some credence to the regular season record not being an end all be all.

Maybe. I guess he tossed 130 innings last year, and for whatever reason I seem to think it was only around 100 until I look it up. Higginson had a very solid overall career, so not trying to slight him at all. But definitely not as good as Tucker’s career to date. One thing that elevates Tucker over Higginson is his year to year consistency. Higginson started out well, but was up and down around late 20s, early 30s. Tucker started out a little slower, but has rattled off 5 very good seasons in a row. Higginson doesn’t have that on his baseball card.

Other candidates are Anderson, Melton, Montero, Gipson-Long, with maybe Anderson as a long RP and Melton, Montero, Gipson-Long stashed in Toledo. I’ll be honest, I still want to add Bassitt. There is no such thing as enough pitching. If everyone is healthy, great. Play the minor league options game, or trade for a position of need, or maybe move a P for a younger P with more minor league options, or trade for another LHRP.
