  1. I do like ex-player good perspectives. Unfortunately I think the commentary it comes with an amount of cheerleading and/or cliches. And I think we understand the degree of either will differ depending upon who is offering the commentary.
  2. His burner account on Twitter.
  3. 1:1 is indeed meaningless at this point. But most of that abridged draft has looked not so good if it has gotten to the MLB level.
  4. Here’s a fun thought. What happens of Drunk Uncle Tommy misses on the president of basketball operations hiring. If he’s afraid of firing Weaver and Williams on his own, how does he handle firing the president if it becomes obvious that it was a mistake hire?
  5. He won't have to worry about playoff stat lines as a Piston.
  6. Who gets kicked off of the 40 and active roster for Hiura? What do you do with him after you puts Torkelson back at 1B? I think you've got to roll with Keith. He's shown in the past that it takes some time for him to get going at a new level. I think some of his nontraditonal metrics show he's had some bad luck on batted balls. A .206 BABIP (vs league average .290), exit velocity of 88.2 (vs 88.3), hard hit rate of 31.7% (vs 39.1%). I guess I would expect the exit velocity and hard hit rate to be more in tune with each other. But his SO% is better than league average (18.8% vs 22.5%) and his walk rate is close to league average (7.1% vs 8.9%). He's going to look overmatched at times, he's a rookie. But I think there's a bit more to his numbers rather than being over his head. Meadows is a different case. He has a line drive rate of 3% vs league average of 23.9%. That really sticks out. Exit velocity and hard hit rate are below averages, so, sure, the chicken and the egg are there with the line drive rate. But then he gives supreme defense and can cause chaos on the base paths if/when he gets there. Jung still strikes out too much at AAA. That has to be fixed before promotion.
  7. The top 3 should be a combination of Greene, Canha, and Carpenter. After that, I’m not sure anyone has a claim to one slot or another right now. So, he can be moved down from 3, that’s fine. But how do you suggest they line up 4 through 9?
  8. I don’t care what Hiura is doing in Toledo. He’s an absolute nonentity to me in terms of an answer at 1B for the Tigers. Torkelson has been disappointing this season, no question. He still has a chance at a long term future with the Tigers.
  9. Yours or someone else's?
  10. Nah, I'm cool with the other outfielders for a handful of turf games. I don't want to say he's fragile. I would simply rather use those defensive outfield innings on grass.
  11. I bet he DHs again tonight. That's fine. Why take the chance of him in that OF?
  12. Yeah, this is it for me. Where do they go from this season? Who is going to get this team onto the right track going forward? Forget the playoffs next season. I would punt them for the next season also if it meant a better more sustainable ceiling. And that might mean Cunningham isn't a part of the next winner in Detroit. Heck, that might mean none of the current "core" are a part of the next playoff team.
  13. Probably good for Youppi. That game went 22 innings. A 1-zilch game that the Dodgers won on a Rick Dempsey home run.
  14. I really liked Ten, Vs, and Vitalogy. Yield is probably the only album I liked for a stretch after that. Lightening Bolt drew me back in. I really, really liked Gigaton. I like Dark Matter. So, I knew this album was to drop soon. But, with two teenaged daughters in the house, all I heard about was Taylor Swift's album coming out. And my eldest was just in her high school musical this weekend, Mama Mia. 4 shows of ABBA songs. Don't get me wrong, it was a good show, the students were good. But, 4 shows of ABBA songs. So, once I was reminded on Friday that Dark Matter was out, I've tried to scrub 4 shows of ABBA out of my head with Dark Matter. People,.... this ain't easy.
  15. Well, Drummond is still an active player, and I would guess that would exclude him from such a role.
  16. That was pretty bad. I can understand mistaking where the voice was coming from. I didn't realize Boone had gotten a warning prior to this. But, it isn't that difficult for the ump or MLB or whomever to simply say, hey, Wendlestedt simply thought the commentary came from the dugout, a warning had been issued, things played out live as they did, but upon review the ejection was a mistake. Ain't that hard. As an aside, hey, the fan paid the admission, so he can say whatever he wants to whomever he wants, right?
  17. I don't agree with the jail time theory. I think he's just arrogant enough to assume he will win by just being himself. Loud and obnoxious. I think he assumes he can shout down at anyone and the universe revolves around him.
  18. You were wither 5'2" then or the seats have shrunk over time?
  19. I think part of the playing time issue for Paredes was that he was stuck behind Candelario.
  20. If only they could find a leadoff hitter...
