  1. I didn't realize the scope to which they had a small footprint to deal with. Per this map, part of the RF stands are above a roadway.
  2. If there's going to be a miss on free agency, I'd rather it be on shorter term deals. To that point, Harris hasn't failed by giving out a long term clunker.
  3. Your last sentence is very funny.
  4. The two times I've been there we stayed at that intersection, but not at that former structure. Can't tell you which ones, because you know, Vegas and all.
  5. The evolution over time is interesting to me. Not all that long ago, or maybe longer ago than I want to admit, Buffalo was a city that found its way on expansion lists. I think they considered possible expansion when they built their current minor league ballyard, but I don't know if the engineering ideas were actually incorporated into the actual build. I wonder how much Canada is in pay for an expansion team. It seems like Toronto has a claim for most of Canada as their team. So, does MLB stand to gain additional market (read that as revenue rather than geography) by setting another team north of the border?
  6. Seems like a decent spot for a casino.
  7. I don't mind critiquing Harris' moves in free agency. But I think its appropriate to remember the context. Urshela and Canha, for instance. Canha was traded for as a veteran RHH bat for the lineup. I think that was wise given where the rest of the lineup was. The lineup was largely unproven, a bit towards the LHH side, and there wasn't an obvious 1B backup to Torkelson (who ended up demoted for a time). Urshela was a late signing. There was a need for a short term 3B and I think Harris was waiting out the market at the time. Canha had a bit of a contract, but certainly nothing onerous. Urshela was cheap contract. Not much risk for either. As far as the pitching, I was fine with Maeda's signing. He was brought in to eat innings and he simply aged out. HIs previous season was solid after coming off of a missed season. Harris struck gold with Flaherty 1.0 and acquired prospects for him. Flaherty 2.0 is a bit fo a mystery, but I don't recall anyone thinking that contract was unreasonable. Cobb and Brebbia were certainly questionable. I'll pull Kahnle off to the side here. I remember posting something about his usage over the seasons and asking an open question if anyone was worried about it. I wish I knew where that post was. I wonder if he's simply hit an innings limit for himself. I'll agree with you on the positives. I think the trading has been slightly better than neutral. I'd say free agency has been a mixed bag.
  8. Its baseball. Almost all teams will win between 40-60% of their games. Every team will have a hot streak. Every team will have a cold streak. Maybe multiples of one or the other or each at various times in the season. Small market teams will beat big market teams and vice versa. Baseball has the parity in results that all sports want. But the problem with the standings, which I don't have a problem with, is the number of games played exacerbates that difference in winning percentage. In terms of winning percentages, baseball teams out of the playoff chance by Labor Day still have a shot in a football season.
  9. Might as well win the series.
  10. Remember when they opened the season and got swept by the Yankees and those wacky bats? Heck, they had a losing record as late as the end of Memorial Day, 27-28. 49-16 since then. Not bad. Take out the 27-4, and that’s a 22-12 in the middle there, which is still a very good baseball winning percentage.
  11. I think the Jimenez/Malloy trade made sense at the time. Jimenez finally had a good season at apthe age of 27. That was the time to flip him. Malloy’s defense simply hasn’t materialized at all. I contend we don’t enough about what happened behind the scenes with the Rodriguez trade to know who botched it or how it was botched. He’d had the long term absence with little contact to the Tiger front office the season before. Then he nixes the trade because he doesn’t want to play out west. Then he signs with Arizona. Doesn’t sound like a, oh, how shall we say it, stable personality to engage with.
  12. Seems like they normally have a west coast trip in the first 10 games. What’s up with this schedule?
  13. 4 team divisions suck. I don’t mind interleaguing with Pittsburgh. I’m still not convinced Las Vegas happens.
  14. I’ll be honest, I’d’of never guessed they were close to 11-6 in the last few weeks.
  15. Make sure your wear a Tiger hat so we know who you are.
  16. 5 innings, allowed 1 hit, and gave 6 chairs. Not bad.
  17. Tigers padlock White Sox, 2-1.
  18. Ah, OK. I knew there was a cap of 13 pitchers when the rosters are at 26. But I never gave it a thought about after roster expansion.
  19. Hey, I know that tunnel! We had a stay along Willoughby Beach a few years ago.
  20. Avert your eyes @Sports_Freak. Avert your eyes!
  21. That’s a game I haven’t heard of in a long time.
  22. Wouldn’t that be a great response by him after he’s asked about hitting a home run? Reporter: “Kerry, can you tell us about your home run?” Carpenter: “First all glory to God. But, yeah, I was just looking for a good pitch to swing at and I wanted to do some Carp **** to it.”
  23. Casey Bonderman wiggles out of trouble.
  24. Win this series. Hit the road. Win the road swing. I think that’s a good game plan.
