  1. Feel free to do this more often.
  2. Baltimore had Flaherty and let him leave. I wouldn’t think they’d trade for him after letting him go for nothing, but who knows for sure. He’s definitely performing better now, so that’s a variable to it.
  3. I’m not sure Vierling is just a 4th OF.
  4. I’m sure the back channels for discussion have been wide open
  5. Have you talked to Harris? Dude, get on the horn.
  6. Communication was given. Why it wasn’t received is the issue. Unfamiliarity may be a component of that, but the communication failure is first and foremost in my opinion.
  7. Figure out a way to get some of the position player prospects out of Baltimore?
  8. You could see Baddoo calling for the ball on one of the replay angles. On another angle, you can see Baddoo, Keith, and Urshela chasing to the spot, and Urshela pulls up. Now, I don't know if he pulled up because he heard Baddoo and/or realized he wasn't going to the get there in time. It did look like he dropped his head to see where Baddoo was going to catch it, but not sure if he could have called Keith off in time and/or if he realized there was going to be a collision.
  9. I'm guessing one of these is in reference to the play where Baddoo was calling for the ball and Keith didn't hold up? I disagree that this is on Hinch. Baddoo was calling for it. He's the OF, it's his ball.
  10. Yes, you're right. I errored there.
  11. Baez is quite busy today.
  12. Baez giveth away a base on the throw, and then taketh away on the next pitch with the tag.
  13. It’ll be explained as a semi day off for Canha at DH. I get that. But not if it means Baddoo in RF.
  14. I think his 2023 also played into it. He had that incredible start, but kind of floundered from there. Most ball players have their ups and downs. I kind of wonder if he hadn’t had such a see saw type of season, would he have had a more favorable free agency? I would think so despite the other concerns, but who knows.
  15. The Tigers have traded away Paredes, Candelario, and Castro. Those would be nice bats for 3B, 1B, and a utility player this season.
  16. That’s kind’of a fun proposition.
  17. I was hoping the Tigers could swing a deal for Ha Seong-Kim (SD) this past offseason. The glove plays around the IF. Solid OBP, lower SO%, higher BB%, not much in the ISO but popped 16 HR last season, some speed. He is at $8M this season, arbitration eligible for two more seasons, but I think there’s a mutual option to get into that after this season. So I’m not quite sure what the deal is there. But I thought he would have been a good left side of the IF defender, insurance at 2B if Keith completely fell apart for this season, and a competent get on base guy. I have not looked much at upcoming FA. The current IF needs help offensively. Teams always churn through bullpen arms. I think they’ve got a rock star in Skubal and solid SP in Olson. I’d entertain extending Flaherty, but I suspect he’d want more than 3 years guaranteed (I think that’s as far as I’d go, tack on vesting option or two). Torkelson really determines a lot, I think. He could earn 1B or they could move on from him. I think there could be some internal domino effect related to that.
  18. McMahon is 29 years old and has a career OPS+ of 92 in over 3,000 PA that is due $12M to $16M per season for the next, what, 4 seasons? I'm not sure that's someone to trade for. He's having a career year so far this season. If Colorado wants to move him, this is probably the time. But I don't see the attraction to acquire him.
  19. Deuce might need to drive up and have a word with the boys.
  20. I think this is correct. I think the Tigers still need to be mindful of building up the minors and how they use their prospects in trades. Arenado's bat seems to have taken a step back this last season and a half. Detroit's 3B have a -0.3 WAR so far this season while Arenado is at -0.1 coming off of a career low (excluding 2020) of 2.4. Now, look, toss out -0.1 as a tough start to the season, but again, his OPS last season combined with this season is eye opening. I liked the idea of acquiring a 3B on a shorter term deal. I was on/off the Chapman free agency thing the past offseason. I think what he got from San Francisco was a bit more than I'd have extended to him, but the mutual option on the 4th year kind of makes it a 3 year deal with only a $1M buyout after that. So maybe not all that onerous. Then again, it wouldn't have been just a cash expense, there was draft compensation attached, too.
  21. You're right. Nobody mentioned anything this offseason. Except maybe in this thread.
  22. Dude. You went from CAPS to bold underline? Oh, man, I'm out....
  23. I don't know anything (well, anything really) the SS in AAA. But does Toronto see him as the next SS should Bichette move along? That might make him unavailable.
  24. Do teams do this? I think it was wise for the Tigers to add a RHH OF. I would have preferred CF, but that's tough to come by in free agency, plus they already had Vierling on the roster, so maybe CF wasn't that big of a deal. I'm fine with Canha. I don't recall the exactly, but I think he had a team option that Milwaukee wasn't going to pick up. I like that it's only a one year deal because I want to see Malloy promoted eventually. Perhaps among OF/DH they can roll out Greene, Carpenter, Meadows, and Malloy. There's still a need for RHH OF, but I think Vierling has improved his stock enough to count him in next season. And Perez has shown well so far also. So, I think they could reasonably have internal options for next season with a decent floor. I think if they were going to really impact the lineup, 3B would have been the target over last offseason, and still could be this season (maybe). And who knows, maybe Torkelson flames out and 1B becomes a concern, too. But, going back to Hernandez/Canha, they got themselves what they needed with Canha. I think the one year was better than multiple years. And we don't know if they reached out to Hernandez (or anyone else) or not.
