  1. Hopefully he is. And has been mentioned, to Gores' credit, he's eating this deal early on as opposed to allowing a bad situation fester on longer than it needs to.
  2. That's true, the roster had issues. but I'm just not sure Williams helped much. Heck, did he even want to be around in the first place given the stories of how they had to make him a deal he couldn't say no to?
  3. He might have, I'm not sure.
  4. The Pistons' owner likes shiny things. While they needed new leadership of the front office and head coach, I'm just not sure how successful they will be with current ownership.
  5. That Daniel Norris game thread was bonkers. The game was at Wrigley, which usually gets a fair number of Tiger fans in attendance.
  6. Yeah, I might be too focused on the where they are vs the rest of the league than the actual number of occurrences. The number of occurrences is probably too small in general to determine anything. I wonder where the Tigers rank if the threshold was 7 or 8 rather than 10.
  7. Deaden the baseball.
  8. Is that really random variation to be that far on either extreme of run scoring?
  9. Baddoo not PHing for Urshela vs a RHP at this point in the game is kind of indicative of Baddoo’s future with the Tigers.
  10. The other variable to Meadows is his defense. Baddoo was brought in as a defensive replacement last night. Let that sink in for a moment. Unfortunately for Meadows, there just isn't enough offense elsewhere to hide his bat at the bottom of the order.
  11. Quick math shows 38.7% of hits + walks result in a run scored across MLB. Miller is at 55%. HR9 in MLB is 1.1, Miller is 1.2. I wouldn't think that HR9 delta is the entire answer to the run % delta.
  12. No updates on his twittergram account. Yet.
  13. Same here. I guess the only preferences that I might have revolve around defensive position. If there are more than one player at a spot that seems reasonable, go with someone that plays up the middle. SS, CF, or SP, in no particular order. I do find some of the financial bonus money pool factors interesting, and the strategies that are involved. I might not always agree with them, but what the heck do I know.
  14. I agree with you for the Atlanta game opener. I still don't understand burning him in the Houston series ender.
  15. You know, looking over the stats, vest isn't all that different from Foley this season. Foley probably isn't available because he pitched 2 innings the game before. Was Brieske available? Miller to go after 5, 6, 7 and then Vest to go after 8, 9, 1? I don't recall the LHB/RHB scenario, but toss that out because there are no LHPs available that I want in a 1 run game.
  16. So, I understand pitching Foley on Sunday because he hadn't pitched in 5 days. But throwing Holton 2 innings in that game down by 3? That probably factors into his lack of availability for this game.
  17. In somewhat fairness to the bullpen this game without absolving their recent month and a half performance, saving a 1 run game for 3 innings is no given. Allowing 1 run over 3 innings is a 3.00 ERA, that's an ace SP. This game is again on the offense. Its funny you bring up Fetter. I've started to question things a bit lately, in particular with how the bullpen has performed. Maybe the pieces just aren't very good to begin with, I don't know. He's had guys with "stuff" that could never figure out the control (Soto, Lange). On the other hand, he polished up Lorenzen and Flaherty is having a resurgence.
  18. Remember when the bullpen was lights out?
  19. I still find myself thinking about pinch hitting for pitchers in National League parks. Old habits die hard.
  20. Yes and no. Torkelson and Baez have stunk out loud and 3B has probably been slightly better than expected. I think the first half of that equation is the extreme of baseball.
  21. I think I know what he was trying to get to, but he failed articulating it. I think what he was trying to express was similar to when shadows get in between the pitcher's mound and home plate. The sun isn't necessarily in the batter's eye, but the ball is going in and out of shadows. I think that's what Petry meant. Regardless, that play has to be made.
  22. It’d be interesting to see just how volatile the Tiger offensive routs are vs it’s normal output. What percentage of these games are outliers to it’s normal distribution, and how does that compare to the rest of the league?
