  1. The action on the field and the results have been wonderful. But also add in the fact that this really has been a total team effort. Its sometimes cliche and gratuitous to include the last guy on the roster in the spoils of the success. But the aspect of the pitching staff usage and the mixing and matching of the position players along the way has added something to it.
  2. It’s going to suck if they leave. But salary caps will not lower costs for fans (again, you’re assumption earlier in this thread) nor does it completely level the playing field for smaller market teams. But how about this. How about just enjoy where the team is right here right now?
  3. That’s a good point.
  4. I’m not the one making the assumption that a cap in sports helps smaller market teams.
  5. I’ll be honest. This Tiger team hasn’t stressed me. It’s been enjoyable to see these kids playing well and the in game management has been great. I’d have never guessed the pitching would perform this well, especially when they were short on traditional starters.
  6. The Pistons agree.
  7. Beating either will be gratifying.
  8. Crud, I missed that.
  9. Can we wait until we congratulate the 2024 World Series Champion Detroit Tigers before fiddling with next season's roster, please?
  10. Might as well win the series.
  11. The torque on Prince Fielder's swings were ridiculous. If not the main culprit, that had to have at least contributed significantly to his early retirement. Now having typed what I've typed about Guerrero Jr's body not being in for the long haul, he'll probably morph into Schwarber Jr.
  12. Selfishly, since I wasn't able to watch/listen, I'm OK with it. but I'd be OKer with it if the Twins had also lost, so that kind'of sucks.
  13. Killian Hayes to the Nets.
  14. You might be right. The Tigers are better, we can all upon that, right?
  15. That's good stuff. I'm moving you up the ranking of my favoritist MTFers.
  16. But the Tigers need to win one more game than the Twins do from here on out. If Minnesota goes 9-0, ain't nothing the Tigers can do about it. Therefore, the Twins are ahead of the Tigers, there is no tie.
  17. Carpe diem, morans.
  18. The tiebreaker dictates that the Tigers are still behind the Twins right now. Essentially, there is no tie.
  19. Well, I wouldn’t be opposed to it.
  20. Yup. I would say any team could reasonably achieve a record of 3-6 through 6-3. I can’t remember any Tiger season like this. This has been simply incredible. At the beginning of the month, a majority of us probably just wanted the chase to go on for as long as possible, playoffs or not. But now the playoffs are right there, and I think there’s a bit of expectation now.
  21. They ain’t sneaking in. They’re winning games and going to have the 3rd best wildcard record.
  22. Nah, I don’t think it matters for this. If it were the 74th and final of the season, the asterisk would be make sense.
  23. Oh crud, that’s right. For some reason I thought I counted Skubal as the last game starter.
  24. I’ll be no fun. They aren’t in a tie. The Twins hold the tiebreaker. Therefore, the Twins are ahead of the Tigers by tiebreaker. If the season were to end, that’s the things would shake out. There’s still 9 games at hand. This race hasn’t been linear and may not be linear going forward. Keep that in mind. As long as at the end of the season the playoff invite goes to the Tigers, it won’t matter if they lose a game or two in Baltimore. And when they do clinch, let’s all gather in @Jim Cowan‘s yard and party like rock stars. I’ll bring some Moosehead.
  25. That’s probably true for teams in a virtual tie or a game or two away from each other. I think at this point it can be useful to look at the history (past week, past month) to see how the game results have affected things.
