  1. Urshela had quite the defensive game. It was one of those games that was brought up about Willie Mays. He might have had an 0fer in the hitting line, but he gave you something somewhere else to make you pause and take notice. Urshela had that twice in the first two innings today. He looks effortless sometimes. I don't know if he has the ability to help at SS anymore. But he only has to be better than McKinstry/Kreidler at the moment, so the bar isn't high.
  2. Urshela to SS?
  3. That’s a good point about his back. Provided good health, I am not worried about what the floor of a deal could be inasmuch as considering what the ceiling could be.
  4. I don’t know. San Diego acquired Arraez pretty early this season. Although that’s also the Marlins, so bold & italicized asterisk on that one.
  5. 10 games in a row. Everybody is going to start at some point.
  6. Vierling CF, Keith 2B, Greene DH, Canha 1B, Perez RF, Urshela 3B, Baddoo LF, McKinstry SS, Rogers C.
  7. Manning pitched yesterday. Montero pitched Friday. Neither were good. In fact, Manning’s not exactly endearing himself to the organization with his AAA work.
  8. I think we all assume Flaherty will be traded. I kind of wonder if there’s a market for him now. Is there a team that has enough value added by acquiring him now as opposed to closer to the trade deadline. There’s the obvious getting him before anyone else that might consider him at the deadline. But does he help his next team with the, what is it, 6 to 8 extra starts he might give his next team?
  9. Old friend Spencer Turnbull.
  10. Just had ours redone. It rained pretty good and no puddles remaining. Nice to see that.
  11. There might be truth right now that the variable is heavier on the players. But that responsibility is Harris'.
  12. Seems like the Tigers already have an underwhelming bat at 1B and an unknown at 2B. But, yeah, maybe its something to consider just to see what shakes out. I'm still wondering about Keith to 3B after this season. If he can get his legs under him in the 2nd half, if Torkelson can revive himself, if a big sack of money suddenly shows up on my doorstep,......
  13. If they wear the fugly dark blues again, Ima bitch and moan about it to no avail.
  14. Don't look at WIlli Castro's line vs Detroit. Don't do it. Don't. .278/.375/.444 in 64 PAs.
  15. Could Clingan and Duren be on the floor at the same time or would you move Duren?
  16. I’d say any kind of offensive contribution out of Baez would be a factor, too. I don’t know if Carpenter means that much to the offense or if his absence was the absolute last straw. I’d venture to say if Greene were dinged up instead of Carpenter, this team would be in a similar malaise.
  17. Wherever the blame lies, and it’s probably some to both, it’s got to change.
  18. If/when they trade Flaherty, it gets really thin assuming Manning Is the replacement. And who knows, maybe Foley gets moved as well.
  19. Now you see why we are the way we is.
  20. Carpe diem, baby
  21. I think for both it was more of a 50/50 call than it was definitive yes or no. Candelario had seen success, but also failure. He was only on the hook for one more season at most. Castro was still young and cheap, but had his issues. And who knows, maybe they needed a fresh start elsewhere for themselves anyway. Maybe they don't see success if they stay in Detroit. But then that begs the question, what's going on in Detroit?
  22. If you believe Baseball Reference, WIlli Castro is a 5 WAR player over 700 PAs with the Twins.
  23. Not touched by AI.
  24. To be clear, I'm not calling him a bust. He definitely should get a longer look. Those minor league numbers suggest he should.
