  1. I like this. I'd suggest Carpenter is fine in a corner OF although certainly no equal to any of those three you mentioned. So I'd be comfortable with him spelling in either corner or RF when Vierling plays CF to give Meadows a day off. Perez on the bench or maybe just use the Ibanez/McKinstry type for in game OF depth when needed with Perez on call in Toledo for when an injury arises.
  2. I've always liked Lindor. All other things being (relatively) equal, I think I'd always take a SS over a CF.
  3. I was my parents' child. Ugly or not, they took me.
  4. And I think Baez' contract is in that discussion as well.
  5. I don’t understand what this has to do with my comment about Skubal being pushed back a day? Sure, due to the tiebreaker the Tigers are 4 games back. They have to finish with a better record than Minnesota (or Kansas City which seems doubtful) to make the playoffs.
  6. Sure, that’s why I mentioned a division series game or two rather than a wildcard series game.
  7. If it’s a 5 man pitching staff without jostling things up, whoever starts tomorrow gets the last game of the season. Put another way, whoever starts tonight and tomorrow get 4 starts, and the other 3 slots gets 3 starts. Baltimore isn’t the team that the Tigers are chasing. Minnesota is the team to get. I’m not worried about him starting against Baltimore or any of those 6 games for that matter. Get him the 4th start.
  8. Hold on. What if those dogs and cats are actually some of those students that schools had to start stocking kitty litter and chew toys for? Is this now a crime against people?
  9. I sometimes ride my bike around a mall area where there is a population of Canadian geese. They can get quite hissy.
  10. So, anyone else curious how the Tigers' PR department and ticketing/ballpark operation folks are feeling about the possibility of a division series game or two? Gotta think there's some hopeful prep work going on, eh?
  11. Did you mean dead goose? This is interesting to me. I don't know if its goose hunting season or if Canadian geese are a legally huntable bird. I was on the road in northern Ohio this past Saturday morning and noticed a couple of guys with a dog in a farm field, one of the guys carrying two dead Canadian geese. I think I saw rifles, but wasn't paying too much attention to it. So, I ultimately don't know how the geese ended up in the that individual's grasp. I was really more interested in getting to the destination for the day. But, if it is Canadian goose hunting season in Ohio, and the picture as you suggest is the culprit, how have the two not been tied together as at least a possibility?
  12. I see what you did there. Pun acknowledged.
  13. I don't know. Unfortunately there's a lot of abject stupidity still supporting him.
  14. Wait, what?
  15. I had this one around that time:
  16. I think we can call it a Montero when it is completely out of the blue. A Maddux has some sort of understood possibility to it.
  17. I understand this is a bit of a tangent thought away from your point, but I've always thought the all star game should be later in the season to involve a bigger piece of the season to build out the rosters.
  18. I think your position player locks make sense unless Jung/Dingler bombs out from here on. Ibanez has been quite an asset as a RHH on the bench or starting vs LHP. I honestly didn't think much at all of his acquisition, but its been quite a boon. I wouldn't be surprised to see him dealt if a team wants to overpay for that. But that would be the only circumstance. Malloy and Torkelson need to hit because there's nothing defensively. I suspect using the DH as a partial rest day might need to be used by Greene more often than we want to admit to in order to keep him healthy. And this might be part of my bias speaking here, but I think Harris/Hinch legitimately want players that can field and hit.
  19. Well, there's always that chance for meeting in the playoffs.
  20. Nope. **** Trump. The Tigers are on. **** trump.
  21. if Minnesota goes 9-9, the Tigers need to go 13-5. Gotta pick those games up somewheres. Hosting Colorado and their dismal 22-53 road record is an opportunity to do that.
  22. That would make baseball sense.
  23. Well, trading Carpenter and landing a RHH don't necessarily need to be directly tied to each other in one transaction.
