But I would bet that they will stay under. Losing those draft picks would be too painful. I'm guessing they bank on return from injury (Melton & Verlander & Jobe + others?) as well as a little bit of internal development from the minors (Clark?). No big trade deadline moves. If that is enough to get them into the playoffs, they can bank on Skubal + Valdez to win them series in the playoffs.

Might as well start this series with a win. And since he's already at 5 straight games, Tork might as well hit another home run to make it 6 and break the Tiger's record.

I certainly do no wish the worst for Meadows...he is a quality ballplayer and, from what I hear, an even better person. But, I like what his absence has opened for this Tigers team. McGonigle can stick at SS...Keith can stick at 3B...DH can still rotate as needed. I really like the IF stability for your young hitters. CF now flexes more rather than the infield. Baez and Vierling and Perez as mix-and-match options in CF are fine options (even if they aren't as good defensively as Meadows). That said, I'm still wishing Meadows a very quick recovery.

That is really amazing that he is leading off. It says a lot about not only his hitting skill but also his composure and ability to focus. I also like that it gets whatever nerves he might have out of the way immediately...he doesn't have an inning to anticipate his first at bat.

If we are going to make it through the season without a losing record, then this game is.. MUST WIN
