I like AJ, but...the past 3 seasons the Tigers have been so streaky. I wonder if their long losing streaks are caused by his unwillingness to make significant changes, even temporary, to his system and his players. Yes, there is something to be said about being loyal to your players and your system, but there is also great value in seeing when something/someone isn't getting the job done and and making a difficult decision to change.
Jones is the current example. Last year he was great in his pinch hitting situations and the data might still declare that pinch hitting in the 4th inning is the best decision, but how many times does Jones need to fail and how many games does he need to cost the team before acknowledging that this isn't working?
