  2. Somebody needs to stick Miller’s head in a poopie toilet for long time.
  3. We drove by there on our trip west. There is also a park nearby where they camped for a while. If I remember correctly it honors him. It’s also where Expedition members elected a new Sargent. The first democratic election west of the Mississippi or something like that
  4. August 20 https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/august-20
  5. Take 'em any way we can.
  6. It only took 120 years or so for the Confederacy to occupy DC. Thanks TACO
  7. Cue the Rolling Stones
  8. Welcome to DOGE City
  9. Yep, I bet TACO has never been anywhere near areas like Anacosta (SE) or any area in the NW part of the district. Basically he's taking resources from other places to feed his ego. Nothing more. Maybe some enterprising reporter should ask him about that His so called department heads/ FOX Alumni are not much better.
  10. All the high crime areas in DC. Once upon a time we were told to avoid DuPont Circle because of all the Hippies.
  11. Raining there, but they are playing. PBP guy just mentioned to Clark out of the lineup. Possible injury
  12. Just an aside, In Virginia's capitol of Williamsburg about 50% of the residents were African American. 50% of those were slaves. There were a number of free blacks. If we were taught the truth in schools, the thinking on this might change a bit. In states like Virginia, North and South Carolina the economy was largely agrarian. Negros had been imported to primarily work the fields, but also many worked in homes. By the time the Revolution came around the system was imbedded in the regions economy. Also by then laws, mostly set up by the colonies legislatures and approved by the English governing body made it nearly impossible to free the slaves without bankrupting the regions economy. It was one of those impossible conundrums. Yes the Washington's, Jefferson's Madison's and such were hypocrites and racists. It took the Civil War to begin to change things. BTW, I'm not defending it. Just telling the truth.
  13. I remember nearly freezing to death (not really, but it was cold) one evening during a Spring Training game in Clearwater.
  14. Also interesting that the thinking is in black and white with no middle ground. Totally colorblind there.
  15. Those who whitewash the path own the future with blood on their hands .
  16. I get it, Domes like Tampa's, the old Astrodome and the Baggie in Minnesota all seemed to sterile, at least on TV. We attended a few Brewers games in Milwaukee when Millef Park first opened. It was ok, once again a different feel when the roof was closed. The same with the Silverdome, very sterile. Baseball and football should be played outdoors the way the gods intended. With real grass.
  17. Somebody needs to have a talk with Grandpa
  18. The letter concludes their brief exchange of correspondence over the treatment of prisoners. Both men still maintain that their own prisoners are well treated, but that they’re aware the other side is treating prisoners poorly, forcing them to retaliate. https://founders.archives.gov/documents/Washington/03-01-02-0227
  19. It's a month old, but
  20. I don't trust Vance at all
  21. They're in the US on legal visas. Being accused with some sort of relationship to a child pornography ring without being presented with evidence or charges. Held overnight and shipped out to parts unknown. https://www.whro.org/business-growth/2025-08-18/more-filipino-cruise-ship-workers-detained-deported-from-norfolk-based-carnival-sunshine?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwMReylleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHkMmIx-7b83pwE3WZbCwRN4Vk_OZXY22k06DImUr6ctJ4oQofsL7shIQKLPT_aem_GhNgOhr51hDuz9b942i11A Hey G Man please defend this with a plausible explanation. if the charges are credible they still should be allowed a fair trial, at least
  22. I would add strong arming businesses for "campaign" contributions as a way to approve things like mergers and avoid "sanctions". Universities are included in this as well (withholding previously approved funds because of political differences)
  23. The Athletic has an article on realignment following the commissioner's interview during the Little League World Series this past weekend. Their writers have come up with a couple of plausible scenarios. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6560635/2025/08/19/mlb-expansion-realignment-leagues-projection/?source=athletic_pulsenewsletter&campaign=14564600&userId=213687 One would be two leagues with four divisions AL East Baltimore, Boston, NY Yankees, Toronto AL West Las Vegas, LA Angels, Expansion (Salt Lake or Portland) Seattle AL North White Sox, Cleveland, Detroit, Minnesota AL South Colorado, Houston, Kansas City, Texas ( The Rockies change leagues) NL East Mets, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington NL West Arizona, Dodgers, San Diego, San Francisco NL North Cubs, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, St Louis NL South Atlanta, Miami, Tampa, Expansion (Nashville, North Carolina)
