JV Last with a great idea re The Ballroom I don’t think that Democrats need to campaign on restoring the East Wing. But what a Democratic candidate might say, if asked about his plans for the Trump Ballroom, is something like this: A lot of people are very angry about Trump’s ballroom and think it was paid for by friends of Jeffrey Epstein. They think it’s an outrage that Trump spent hundreds of millions of dollars on it when he couldn’t even fund the government. Many people say that you could actually makemoney by tearing it down and auctioning off the pieces. We’re going to look into this very strongly and when we come to a decision, it’s going to be one that you like. Then, the minute after a Democratic president is sworn in, he signs the order to restore the East Wing. And then he moves on to the next thing. https://www.thebulwark.com/p/the-lies-voters-tell-themselves-issues?utm_source=substack&utm_campaign=posts-open-in-app&utm_medium=email&r=45wcm&triedRedirect=true

As a reformed Steelers fan I’m sure Mr Rooney Sr is turning in his grave. They look like something originally rejected by The Blue Man Group

This is not an IQ test it’s the standard test to measure dementia and whether you’re capable to be left alone with sharp objects, young children and puppies. I’ve had a couple of these as part of a pre lung transplant assessment

Even if it were in session we do not and would not have a functional Democracy under the Orange TACO

So maybe everyone currently working in what's left of the White House comes down with lung disease?

I was thinking that instead of another No Dictators rally we need to just show up at our local courthouses, office buildings, etc with our lawn chairs and blankets and hold a day of fasting and reflection. It would be interesting to see haw the gangsters react to something like that

Private companies have no business funding individual projects or government organizations. Tell me where in the Constitution it says “from the corporation or PAC for whoever we see fit” Funding should come from taxes, and if individuals or corporations are willing to pay to support vanity projects or government programs they should support higher tax rates.

We did Montreal several years ago, another camping experience, really enjoyed it. This was back in the late 80s. The same with Quebec City. Lots of rain that trip. I remember we saw Ferris Bueller (the movie) one stormy night. It was fun watching the delayed reaction of part of the audience translating jokes from English to French

I did a camping trip into the Maritimes a zillion years ago back in my early 20s. Bay of Fundy, Prince Edward Island and part of the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia. I've been wanting to go back ever since. Highlights on this trip include Bay of Fundy, as well as Halifax and Sydney NS. A couple arraigned tours, mostly a few hours walking around the port areas. We do have a trip planned to Fort Louisburg outside Sydney. Part of my interest in historic forts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortress_of_Louisbourg

Yet they still lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates in seven games. Thanks to some brilliant pitching from Steve Blass and timely hitting from Roberto Clemente.

Heading out Sunday for a seven day cruise of Canada's Atlantic Provences, particularly New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. It should be interesting to see local reactions. I'm sure they'll accept our $$$. My wife has a business acquaintance that own an Island off the NS coast near Sydney. I've heard it's on the market. If I could just find a few dozen well heeled friends to help finance it.

We have a couple breweries here that we will occasionally stop at. The main one is next to the county marina, I've found I enjoy most of their lagers and light ales more than the IPAs. I've even come to enjoy them more than the local wines outside of a good Petite Verdot (one of Virginia's noted specialities) Everything else seems to trigger the side effects of my lung drug.

I wanted to hand out glasses of wine to parents a couple of years ago. Unfortunately the spouse nixed it.

Five years here and really don't know what to expect. Whether more kids from other nearby neighborhoods or the usual relatively low (under 25) number of kids we've had since we moved in. On the other hand we'll be traveling all next week and won't be home, my sister is dog sitting at our house and I don't want to leave her empty handed. Last year I was tempted to give out "Halloween Ducks" especially younger kids. Thought about kazoos as well.

I was just reminded this is the 50th anniversary of Carleton Fisk's iconic home run in the 1975 World Series. One of those shots that stays in sports TV archives. MLB.com has a great story on how the shot of Fisk waving the ball fair came to be https://www.mlb.com/news/carlton-fisk-home-run-rat-story?adobe_mc=TS%3D1761175936%7CMCMID%3D11690324914217096266954970920983166800%7CMCORGID%3DA65F776A5245B01B0A490D44%40AdobeOrg&affiliateId=mlbapp-ios_webview_news-index&rsid=mlbios.at.bat.new.implementation
