    Every run counts the same...

Not if you're leading in the 9th and the only task required is to close the door.

Don't give up the 9th inning run and we win.

And the previous 3 runs are moot point.

You don't know what you're talking about.

I guess i dont get blaming Hinch that Chafin and Lange didnt do thier jobs.... why not blame the players

As far as I'm concerned, Chafin shouldn't have been on the mound in the 9th.

No chance for him to... not do his job.

and Jake threw the ball into CF after Wentz stupidly threw over there a 2nd time. That run was just as costly as the HR into a short corner with the wind blowing out.

Since the score was 4-3, Tigers leading after that...

    No.

  4. I was fine until the 9th... when Chafin was brought in.

    I would've gone Wentz (1st batter was a lefty)...

And then brought in Lange, righty versus Fry, a righty.

That was the game right there.

Chafin gave up the homer to Fry.

This loss is on Hinch. His intelligence makes him....stupid. Foley in the 7th inning? Really? WTF is he thinking?

Foley in the 7th was NOT the problem.

    Chafin in the 9th was.

AVAILABLE in the 9th: Lange, Wentz, Holton.

Who was the best choice for the 9th?

And Foley BLEW his last two games so... NOT Foley.

    What's the over-under for when he'll cave? I've got June 1.

    July 18th.

Immediately after Trump becomes the official Republican Presidential nominee, all these squib Republicans who have NOT said they will vote for the Democratic Presidential nominee in November (in other words... said "anything else") will turn around and state: "I support the Republican Party and therefore will vote (holding my nose) for the Republican Presidential candidate in November."

    Every.

    Single.

    One of them.

If as a major league GM you're getting hits here on there on minor trades while getting crushed on practically every major one, that doesn't acquit your legacy as well as you might hope.

    It does not.

Also... I think after getting crushed in the Verlander and Martinez trades...

He became gun-shy and refused to even consider any major trade again...

He did win several of these smaller trades...

But being gun-shy as an MLB GM is not a recipe for success.

I mentioned before but it's kinda funny how Avila seemed to get better returns out of his lesser deals than he did the big name players.

Aside from Olson for Norris, getting Willi Castro for Leonys Martin was a win considering the one good season Willi had and the fact he is still in the league,  Gipson-Lomg for Fulmer looks like it has the potential ...

Also Joe Wentz for Shane Greene.

Wentz is just starting out so we don't know what he can do. I like him as a middle reliever 2-3-inning guy so we'll see how that works out. A bad 2023 so he has to overcome his (-0.8) career WAR so far...

Greene had a 1.0 WAR after leaving Detroit so it's not a huge bar to get over.

I always thought that if they would let him play 120 games he would hit .230 with 20 home runs, which these days would make a very good number 9 hitter.

That could fit just about anywhere in the bottom half of the lineup...

If it's Naegleria Fowleri (brain eating amoeba) or Toxocara Canis (got the worm from his dog? Shoulda called Kristi Noem...):

Why didn't it finish the job?

Too distasteful so it crept back out his ears looking for something better?

I was going to mock this post earlier for the small sample size. Now that Ibanez is up to .361, is AJ right?

Ibanez has a .307 OBP over 800 PA's over the past several years in MLB.

Is that how you define small sample size?
