I watched the sentencing video last night with the wife. At first I thought it was too random and she was not following it. I turned to her about 3 minutes and and she was watching it like the 9th inning of a playoff game. Good job, Judge! After it was over she said: "I hope someone gives that same speech to Trump"

I used to hang out with guys who played and had bands and i was always just the guy hanging in the back of the bar watching. No talent or affinity. I will encourage her to pursue as far as she likes. Even if its just to provide memories for later in life of when she was young and had the balls to get up on stage.

Michigan is unique in this regard. If you search zillow in SE michigan you will see a musical instrument in every gd house. In Northern VA, nobody has time for such pursuits.

two different models for success in the arts. There is that one where they all work their way out of the crab bucket and the other is the one where parents have money and organizational skills that navigate the (possibly) talented youngster to the promised land. Two examples I'm thinking of the latter are Rebecca Black and Taylor Swift. For long term success I dunno which is better. We probably won't be doing the latter unless I get a huge settlement or win the PowerBall. An older brother was a talented photographer and video artist. I learned from his example that the best skill an artist can develop is the ability to talk to people with money.

My hausfrau won't allow us to get anything beyond entry level for this first model.
