As for the reports that Trump asked for extra resources... well, what was normal for a presidential candidate? Dear Leader trying to stress the system and refusing to accept constraints on resources seems like. You had the RNC starting the next day and a major protection op ongoing....

The USSS have some issues with their leadership that appeared to have been corrupted by the Trump people. I personally witnessed multiple agents offered security jobs at casinos during the 45 admin. And that probably is the best place to land if you are in the USSS protective service guy, since the actual job sucks eggs. Yeah, I see the tensions caused by the private/public divide also playing out across the rest of the US national security community. A lot of people who shouldn't be contractors (lack degree but somehow got a clearance) are, a lot of people who should be unemployed (drunk, abusive, incompetent) are federal employees. Its not a perfect system for sure. But the USSS has some darkness to shine some light upon. What will really make this untenable is when its all ideological and based only upon fealty to the Leader.

What really needs explaining is why Mike Pence was worried to get into the SUV.

How can you have the USSS or FBI report on something that involved the allmighty deity's providence? How can they report on Trump's health when he's got immaculate health? When they open his mouth and look at his uvula there is nothing but a beam of bright glowing light that would blind them, unless he regulated its aura to save them because he's just that good of a person.

Very interesting note today from yesterday's Bulwark pod with SE Cupp talking to Tim Miller. She says "I know from a well-placed source" that Biden is going to step aside. Now, that's not exactly dispositive. But, the effect of that on the chattering class is now the thing that matters. This needs to be resolved by the end of July at the latest. And by resolved it needs to be him passing the baton to Kamela. She's the elected official who got all those votes to be VP back in 2020.
