  1. Concur. But each of these surburban elections has been a bloodbath for the GOP since Jan 6 2021.
  2. Usually a good sign that people in congress expect a bloodbath in the fall.
  3. oh interesting
  4. They have used it in the past over this. Their leak prior to Feb 2022 was critical to rallying the response to Putin's offensive and their selective release of NTM intel to Ukraine was key to getting Ukraine ready for it.
  5. Looks like Wink as DC Greg Scruggs as DL coach Brian Jean Mary as LB coach Stephen Adegoke as DB coach. Not bad if you had to replace all the defensive coaches in a hurry.
  6. this is just....wow
  7. Yep...reminded me of many a holiday meal in my house.
  8. Unfortunately, once a population starts to go down the road of conspiracy thinking. They interpret defeat as a lack of resolution to their core principles. This is Egypt after Yom Kippor in 1973+ The hardliners viewed the defeat not as a reason to reform and figure out a Jewish state was likely there to stay. The nutters went out and blamed the Sadat government, killed him and became the core of Egyptian Islamic Jihad which (Zawahiri) and later the nucleous of Al Qa`ida. In a scenario where the MAGAs think they can only win through violence...well, its definitely coming. Average GOP voter, isn't thinking this. He's ignorant of Trump's legal troubles and the January 6th conspiracies. He's not told all these things. But, Steve Bannon is on the direct line of leninist revolutionary planning. He knows what he needs to do and he will continue to plot until he is put down.
  9. Biden's comments on Trump inviting Putin to invade NATO countries were very good.
  10. Per Kornacki and others the margins in this election are driven by the category of voter who is hyper vigilant over democracy. Yet, the other side calls themselves patriots. Maybe "Citizens" is the better term for the counter-trump voter.
  11. RVs are not an effective screen for a special election. (edit: that was incredibly banal of me). I think I was saying that what the hell is up with polls that showed this close?
  12. Sponge Bob and Patrick Starr were all about Taylor Swift on the broadcast I watched. I didn't mind because I've reached that part of my life that ignores how baggy the kid's pants are.
  13. I wish for that to happen. I think there will be violence again though. Having some Gravy SEALS die off doesn't bother me so much as the precedent for political violence being the norm.
  14. I think the synthesis of the current CFB crisis in coach and player retention is coming. But, the other arm of the crisis is player safety and financial security. I think there are a lot of traditionalists who are ready to hold their nose and vote for change that empowers players with some of the aspects of employment safeguards if it means stability of their rosters for at least two years. The old system where the bubbas could bankroll players who were otherwise stuck at their school for at least 3 years was not tenable when they were competing with schools that at least had to give eyewash to the NCAA's rules.
  15. Might be a vestige of my former life as a GOP center-right stalwart but I still don't find Jon Steward very funny.
  16. Moore appears to be making some strong recruitment on coaches even if Harbaugh is attracting all those he wanted to the NFL.
  17. are those wrestlers?

  19. Or injecting heroin.
  20. Do not knock it
  21. and when I say "my generation" i am talking about the generation from the movie Jarhead and Three Kings bitching about how we didn't get to go to war (Desert Storm) with our own music.
  22. Vietnam was such a huge anvil weighing over the heads of my generation. Its fascinating how little I think of it anymore. I started listening to some Grand Funk the other day and the comments in the youtube page for "I'm your captain" were all about the guys who listened to that while they were in country.
  23. Plenty of combat vets from Afghanistan and Iraq since then.
  24. That WH was filled with combat vets. HW Bush was shot down fighting the Japanese, Don Regan fought on Guadalcanal and Okinawa, Vernon Walters was a combat liaison with the Brazilian expeditionary force in Italy. It was a generation that knew the cost of appeasement.
  25. Like Reagan is spinning in his grave over Trump's obedience to Putin. I think metaphorically we could power a couple aircraft carriers on the energy from the spinning motion.
