  1. Tigers are 24-24 since the 9-23 start. Since then they’ve lost 2.5 games in the standings to Minnesota, lost 0.5 game in standings to Cleveland, gained 1.0 game in standings to Chicago and gained 5.5 games in standings on KC.
  2. Doubleheaders.
  3. Unassisted out for Pitchin’ Harold to end it.
  4. Dan Dickerson calls it ridiculous, thinks should let teams have way more pitchers this year.
  5. And the MLB.com app on my iPad and iPhone are both a day behind on the audio. When I click in the audio link in Gameday, it goes to yesterday’s archived game instead
  6. Here is something surprising I just looked up. After his first 4 full MLB seasons through 1981, 531 games, Whitaker had a career total of only 12 home runs (fewer than Paredes has hit so far this season, ha). Ended his career 14 years later with 244.
  7. That would actually answer Ronz’’s original question, if that was last time. Some more I found about my game which is neat but doesn’t answer Ronz’s original question.
  8. Boom. Not quite right but not bad considering it was 35 years ago. Tigers trailed 8-5 going into the bottom of the 9th vs Baltimore on Sunday June 28, 1987. Grubb homered. Up next: Nokes homered. Then Madlock with his 3rd homer of game to tie it! Tigers scored a run in the 11th to win it. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/DET/DET198706280.shtml
  9. I saw a back to back to back HR sequence for a Tigers walkoff win at Tiger Stadium. I believe Bill Madlock was involved. Pretty sure it was a Sunday afternoon. July? 1987?
  10. Reyes, Riley rock Royals! Walkoff win, wow!
  11. Burning question: Do the Song Girls travel? I can picture them on the sidelines at Michigan or Iowa on nippy October days.
  12. This topic is of interest to me. I grew up religious (Catholic schools, Catholic sacraments/family milesones), drifted away like many do in their 20s, verged on hostile in my 30s (one priest-child sex abuse scandal hit pretty close to home, although not directly on me or immediate family), started finding myself drawn back in my 40s after my father died and our daughter hit school age and then... two years ago started grad school on a p/t basis. I'm currently halfway through a Master's degree in Theology, on pace to graduate June 2024. Whether you love religion, hate it, or are somewhere in between, hard to argue that religion hasn't been "important" throughout human history. I find it very interesting. In fact, have a term paper due tomorrow in which I pick apart the Vatican's deal with the Communist Party of China. Take one course at a time. Last term was a course focused only on the letters of St. Paul and my exigesis paper was a 10-pager on one sentence in 2 Corinthians.
  13. Before I saw the responses I was thinking: - this year’s first - Cossa - Bertuzzi So pretty close to what Buddha was thinking. You could maybe if you were lucky do this years first, a 2nd and Bertuzzi is be fine with trading Bertuzzi if we used salary cap space to sign a comparable replacement.
  14. Zetterberg was better defensively and had way more playoff points too.
  15. Kate hits #1 on the UK charts 37 years after the song was first released. Thanks to its use within an episode of Stranger Things.
  16. Yeah, they're grown-ass adults, they should be able to do something separately by now. Vancouver sports radio was saying that if only one got in, it probably would have been Henrik. Mogilny suffers because there is a limit of 4 male inductees per year and new guys keep being eligible. He has to wait for a a somewhat soft class. Mogilny not only has the stats, but the intangible interest as well given how important he was to the early Russian surge into the NHL.
  17. I thought Canadian TV pick it up yesterday but so far no. Will see it once it pops up on Sportsnet or TSN or ESPN puts it online. Knowing the Avs just won the puck will take away some of the satisfaction though of seeing Lemieux's face smashed in again.
  18. Zetterberg, the Sedins and Luongo are eligible for this year's HOF class, with inductees being announced today. Alfredsson and Mogilny are a couple of players from past years not in, but still on the ballot. I think Zetterberg is a HOFer, but not sure he gets in on first ballot. I can see him missing out this year.
  19. I think we will have a new head coach, a Tampa assistant, by Thursday. May wait till after the parade.
  20. I’m fine with the waving off but yeah the ref waited way too long, should have done it 3 seconds earlier.
  21. Makar, the Smyrhe winner, was the perfect draft pick for the rebuild.
