A lot of Leafs and media are griping because they don’t think there was enough trade off in terms of a lower salary in exchange for the the shorter term than the Leafs had wanted I think they’re missing the big picture though. Matthews has no obligation to take a hometeam discount and there is probably one team who would have given him more money next summer.
