Good, no. But the 2019 team had four 20-goal scorers under 25 years old. Two of them were 30-goal scoring centres. Plus had a future top pairing/top 4 d-man in 20-year old Hronek. The cupboard wasn’t totally bare.

In March 2019, "one of the worst teams in NHL history" that Yzerman inherited a few weeks later went 8-6-1 for 17pts that month on the way to a 74 point season. Man, would have killed for a March like that the past few years: March 2022: 3-8-3 (9 pts) March 2023: 5-9-1 (11 pts) March 2024: 3-9-2 (8 pts) March 2025: 1-6-0 (2 pts with 7 March games to go)

Hasn’t scored a goal in past 9 games. Does have 7 assists dusting that stretch.

Yes. And "the National League", "a 4 point game", "from the old school" and "Katy bar the door". I was confused by a 4 point game, I thought he meant the Wings would get double the normal points if they won that night. When he just meant that you'd not only get 2 points but prevent a close rival from getting 2 points. Plus I thought "old school" was an actual building where veteran players and coaches would go in the summer, like a hockey camp, lol. As much as guys like us got our share of Red Wings glory in the '90s and '00s, I have to keep in mind that a student graduating college this year was only 5 years old when the Wings last won the Cup and so a whole generation doesn't remember the Wings being great year in year out.

Correct. A best of 3 against Atlanta, Game 2 was at the Olympia and was a rare televised home game. Lochead deked the goalie and tapped it in on the way by the net. Have never heard Bruce Martyn more excited. For years I considered that the biggest highlight since being a Wings fan.
