  1. Ovechkin has said he will make sure not to score the record breaker into an empty net.
  2. How could 4 teams be tied for 8th place with 81 points after Tuesday night: - Wings beat Florida on Sunday and in Montreal on Tuesday - Habs lose in regulation to Philly on Saturday, Nashville on Sunday and the Wings on Tuesday - Rangers split their two games at Devils on Saturday and hosting Tampa on Monday - Jackets win 2 of the next 3, with one game against at Toronto then a home and home with Ottawa After Tuesday night, the Habs will have 4 games left and the Rangers, Jackets and Wings will have 5 games left. Wings would almost certainly lose the tiebreaker over NYR, almost certainly win the tiebreaker over CBJ, likely win tiebreaker over Montreal
  3. And then they play each at Le Centre Bell on Tuesday.
  4. Wings keep teeny weeny hopes alive with 5-3 win.
  5. Wings 4-1 leas at home to Carolina has been cut to 4-3. Still 5 minutes in regulation.
  6. The only milestone goal or hit or score I can remember seeing in person is Gretzky scoring against the Wings at the Joe to tie Espo’s single season record of 76 goals. Quite late in the 3rd period if I recall correctly. 1982? Update: 1982 it was. Link found. https://www.upi.com/amp/Archives/1982/02/22/Gretzky-ties-Phil-Espositos-season-record-of-76-goals/5089383202000/
  7. Ovechkin has scored already. 1 to tie, 2 to break
  8. And a Wall Street Journal article about the MIT scientist behind it. https://www.wsj.com/sports/baseball/mit-scientist-torpedo-bats-new-york-yankees-bfdeacd9?st=LhGSSx&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
  9. Opening Day forty years ago, when the champion Tigers got their rings.
  10. Speaking of college decisions, while we all agree NIL in college hockey won't be much, there's definitely talk in Canada about how even a bit of NIL plus the NCAA's ruling last year that playing CHL hockey doesn't kill your eligibility will send some Canadians to the States. Including Gavin McKenna possibly. There are some college hockey schools that aren't big in college football or college basketball so might direct some money towards hockey.
  11. I really hope the Dodgers don’t match or beat 35-5.
  12. Tried a test. Sweeney strikes out to end top half of 6th inning. MLB audio 3 pitches behind.
  13. Heading onto the road shortly to make the 2hr 45m drive down to Safeco Field, or I guess it's called T-Mobile now. Have been to many games there but never with the roof closed, which I assume they'll do today. First time in the States in 2025 so in case Peace Arch border officials stop me and read my phone, let me just state for the record ... God bless America and I hereby swear I am not and never have been a friend, family member or associate of former governor Trudeau, what a looser.
  14. "Stay with us, more post-game after this". My cuppeth is overflowing.
  15. I love Bobby Sales enthusiasm...but would prefer it on the telecast. Radio I prefer more mellow.
  16. Dead for me too on MLB. But I also have the XM Sirius app and listening to it post-game that way now. Player of the game is Casey Mize.
  17. Did we make a deal with the devil for the four Stanley Cups? Fine for me, I had a lifetime's worth of celebration for that 15-20 year period. But I feel for the under 20s or don't know what it's like to cheer for a good team.
  18. That’s a consideration. But of more immediate interest, when I cross at the Peace Arch tomorrow morning on the way to the game do I still need to show my passport? Or is it like walking from Germany into France now.
  19. Not good enough. Not the game, not the team, not the season.
  20. Wings lead. Compher of all people.
  21. …and Habs win it in overtime. Good news for the Leafs, dagger for the Wings
