He should have blisters on his arse. Gerry Gallant is out there. Go get him. Won't be anymore complacency on this team, trust me. -

Considering the last couple of offseasons, to me anyone better than Canha is bold. -
Where will the Tampa Bay Rays play in 2025
Motor City Sonics replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
Even though it's a minor league stadium, it's a WAY better atmosphere than the mausoleum they normally play in. The biggest problem is, and I only lived in West Florida (Naples) for one Summer, but it stormed nearly every day. The humidity off the Gulf builds so much it just bursts. Amazing lightning storms (Hence: Tampa Bay Lightning). They usually hit around 3 or 4 pm and then are done within 30-45 minutes, but then it gets even more humid. So there is a high potential of rainouts or swampy field conditions from heavy rains, but I am sure all those minor league parks in FLA have top notch drainage systems. Have they said where the Tarpons are going to play? Can't make them play a bunch of day games in that heat? I mean, they're young guys in top condition and a lot of the Latin American players are used to that, but that's a bit unfair to them. It was the best of all possible outcomes. The only other viable situation, to me, was having them share Miami's stadium, but then you're moving the team away from it's (limited) fanbase. What would the Tigers do in a similar situation? Toledo? Can't retrofit Ford Field (at least I don't think so). Wayne State's baseball field seats about 400. Was the Trop the last of that type of dome, that type of roof? Seems like all the other indoor stadiums are retractable roof now. -
Where will the Tampa Bay Rays play in 2025
Motor City Sonics replied to Motor City Sonics's topic in Detroit Tigers
It will be Steinbrenner field in 2025. The interesting thing about this, is that the stadium night after night will be mostly full and there will be something called ATMOSPHERE, something they're not used to. This could be quite a benefit for the team in some weird ways. Largest salary on the Rays is 10 million, but the Rays are paying 15 million to play there. -

I don't think they're going to sign any left-side infielder. Maybe someone who can play first base, but it'll be someone that none of us care about. Someone ranked low on the list. Then reclamation project pitchers coming off injuries. They're not doing anything bold. They got to the playoffs last year, why spend now? -

When are they going to give Steven Moya another chance. He's only 33 !!! What about Travis Chapman and Shannon Penn ? Nobody even mentions Kyle Sleeth for the rotation anymore. -

I think all those things are factors, but I think maybe the biggest is that when he was with the Cubs and Mets, he was one of many good players (and he was good), but he never had to carry a team. He comes here and he is THE MAN when he does - he is no longer one of many, he is the leader and I think his mentality changed. I don't think he was suited for that role. With the other teams - he wasn't necessarily the focus of the opponents, but with the Tigers he was and they did a better job of exploiting it. All we needed out of him was to play to career averages and wow, significant drop in 2022 and then off a cliff the last two years. It didn't work. Tigers need to accept that, regardless of money. You can go with a platoon of Sweeney/Navigato/Leonard and get more. Navigato is Italian for Navigated.....let him point the way !!!! -

Any power rankings that put the Tigers ahead of Cleveland is deeply flawed. Cleveland beat the Tigers because Cleveland was better than the Tigers. -
Yes, the 23rd.

Not sure we should totally rule out Andrew Navigato. Quietly had 21 HR, 22 SB and an OBP of .363 for Toledo last year. That's a pretty decent season. Defense is a bit shaky, however. -

If only they could finish........they'd have a winning record, they've been in just about every game since the 0-4 start. Young team, it's gonna happen, but the East is puke this year. -

You can watch NBA or NHL games for just 7 bucks per game !!!!!! There won't be any free sports on TV by 2030. Well, maybe the occasional MAC football game. -

Sure, they need someone to pair up with him. Goldschmidt could be a mentor. They need something. Maybe Mark Canha is available again !!!!! -
I thought Josh Paschal played pretty well against Houston and even got a sack. He should be able to make some noise with Z in the lineup. But next year Z and Hutch? Wow.

Why even speculate on Sasaki, everyone knows he's going to be a Dodger. -
That's what I was thinking, Tremblay is a common Canadian name, but Litghow didn't do a Canadian accent and he would have. Of course being related to Mario Tremblay, this would have infuriated Patrick Roy

I want Indiana to win so badly this week. What a great story that is. When I was in my first two years of college my high school friend went there and we road tripped to Bloomington a couple of times and had a blast. It's really a cool little town. I actually went to the rock quarry where they shot "Breaking Away", which is one of my favorite movies of all time - still to this day. The slanted rock that the guys in the movie were laying on has been graffitti'ed like crazy and the water was not very clear anymore. The locals really discouraged people from visiting that spot. I used to have this dream about needing to see someone at 833 S. Olive St. in Bloomington. There is actually a S. Olive St too, but no house with that address. Wonder what that dream meant.

Not worried about Goff. Two passes were tipped, the other was a throw punt and yes, he made some bad throws. But if you can get away with a clunker like that and win.......... Besides, when the game was on the line and they needed passes completed he was back to his old self. People just look for reasons with Quarterbacks, Goalies and Closers, don't they? I really doubt Goff plays like that again. Having a game like that can actually be a good thing going forward.
