2 1/2 year old fatally shoots themselves with an unsecured gun. I know the parents are devastated, but whomever that gun is registered to should be charged - and so should all the gun owners that don't secure there guns when this thing happens. The people in that household should never be allowed to legally own a gun again.

I don't hate Javy, but I am just astonished by how bad he is. I don't think his opinion alone would say anyone away from here - especially as bad as he's been (I'd expect fans to kind of turn on you when you're THIS bad. I don't think he's the absolute authority about playing here. There are plenty of guys that would tell people the fans were great (most of them have retired). I just don't want to be stuck with him. Face it, we're in another 16 year tailspin. Feels like it, anyway. Here's hoping Harris and his staff are brilliant at drafting and developing. Couldn't be worse that Al. -

This made me happy to read. Kevin Tighe and Randolph Mantooth (DeSoto & Gage) from Emergency! have remained very close friends ever since. They live right by each other and see each other all the time and give each other a friendly hard time like the characters did. When you hear about co-stars hating each other (Bruce Willis & Cybill Shepherd, Bea Arthur & Betty White, Shelly Long & The rest of the cast of Cheers), it's refreshing to see this. Tighe was Best Man at Mantooth's wedding 20 years ago and went over and hung out with him while he recovered from cancer. It's funny. I think of 7 year old me watchin Emergency! on my little black & white TV in my room (My mom telling me to turn it down because of the omnipresent sirens) and I never would have thought that Hey, 50 years from now I will be watching this in the morning every day. It's also amazing how much of it I remembered. -

I don't think Javy's feelings here are going to move the needle on free agency in Detroit. That's why I think we're in for another long rebuild and lets hope Scott Harris & Co nail the draft and development angle - because that's probably the only way they are getting back to respectability. They have nothing really good to trade, do they? Free agents aren't coming here anyway and what difference would 2 or 3 high-priced players make. Besides, I don't think Javy is the most respected guy in the world either. I don't want to have to Miggy him for another 4 years. He's checked out. Might not be done, but as far as playing here, he's checked out. I think the only way a premium free agent is coming here is with a huge overpay. Chris is not Mike. -
I don't care if Ted Kaczynski killed himself. I'm just glad he's dead. The most maddening part of all of it, is many of the things he asserted ABOUT TECHNOLOGY were not off-base and are coming true and there are some frightening things ahead. The other junk in his manifesto was pure garbage, but the tech stuff was pretty spot-on. Too bad he felt he needed to kill and hurt and terrorize people to make his point. Asshole. Hey Ted, when you get to Hell, say HI to Pat Robertson for me.......sorry, for us!

Honestly, they're having to use them in starting roles now - it throws everything off. Everything is going wrong. Just no depth for this team. All those years and Avila left NOTHING. Not holding out hopes for Colt Keith either. Success at AA doesn't always translate - and you know, Tigers Luck. He'll probably get life-altering hemorrhoids that sideline him for 2/3s of his rookie season. Or Vertigo Or some sort of muscle-locking condition that nobody ever gets anymore. You know, somethin like that. -

With every failure, the value of Javier Baez goes down - and it makes it more possible that he won't be able to command what he's making now and we're stuck with him. I will remove Miguel from the equation because of his advanced age, but is Javy Baez the worst starting player in the Majors? I hope he hates it here so much that he just leaves anyway. What a disaster. I know they have a lot of injuries (because they're cursed), but if feels like when Riley went down - they quit. -
Not loading zones. A track from Jason's new album. Also a new Son Volt song from their Doug Sahm tribute album. Show's leaning a bit Americana this week.

And the commercial that has supplanted the various "Dr. Rick" commercials as my favorite, is this gem. The father is so funny. -
I was driving home to Dearborn from Ann Arbor today, a Saturday, where it's warm and sunny in most of the country and I actually thought "I wonder where this weekend's mass shootings will be?". It's just kind of a normal thought now.

If she didn't back off her "basket of deplorables" remark, she might have won.

I love that guy. First time I ever heard him. Love at first sight.

But they love this. Because they hope he gets nailed and gets out of their way, but they can use this for political hay. This is their dream come true.

I think President Biden or President Harris, or President Newsom would pardon him actually, with some major conditions - to avoid the embarrassment of having an ex-President behind bars and to stop bloodshed.

I didn't think that you liked that. Not for a second. They also grew up in a city with pretty dirty air (in their youth) and I am sure that didn't help. -

Ever clean a cart machine head with a long cotton swab in a studio where smoking was allowed? -

Both of my parents and all of their brothers & sisters (12 total) smoked, except one. 7 have died from lung disease (my dad died of mesothelioma, which was from asbestos). Both my parents did quit back in the early 80s. One of my uncles was like your mom, even with lung cancer, on oxygen and in terrible pain, never really stopped. He figured "what's the point now?". When we were younger we'd say it was bad but he believed it was some kind of conspiracy of some kind to make people stop. The one uncle I have who never ever smoked (not even once, never even tried once) is still alive, 94 years old- lives in Somerville, Mass and shovels the walk ups for several neighbors when it snows (they don't have driveways there). The man still works too (paints boats, fixes small things a couple times a week) and the only medication he takes is for the arthritis in his hands, when he needs it. He's still sharp as a tack too. A memory like Gordie Howe's before his stroke. Dude's a dynamo. Tells us young ones (my cousins in their 60s) "you're all soft, all a yas"
