  1. So what's the deal, is everything still status quo? Same viewing options as last year?
  2. The curse is real. Build The District like you promised, Chris Illitch, or this keeps happening. How about all that affordable housing? Wait, nothing yet? The parking lots all look great, though.
  3. To me that looks like a RHP/LHP platoon and that's just not going to happen.
  4. People liked him, because, like The Bird, he was too young to be jaded. He was just kind of a goofy kid who was having a great time. So many ballplayers are robotic and defensive, especially now, that it's the characters that stand out. Fidrych and Fernando acted like we would have acted if we suddenly found ourselves as big league stars. That's why people connected. Fidrych would pick tomatoes off the CF tomato plant and eat them in the dugout. Total goofball. His reaction to his curtain call on Monday Night was awesome, he was overwhelmed and humbled, he was in tears.
  5. It changes................as the spring goes forward. It's not an absolute. Things are different March 23rd than they are March 6th. It's just a guess. Chill. But to think Riley Greene is going to be platooned is just not paying attention. He's their star and he's going to play - even if he struggles (outside of Miggy). I'm just not sure he's a leadoff guy, but they have no other real leadoff guys.
  6. Oh, that was huge around the country, but it was a little different because his English wasn't great.
  7. It was incredible. First start was May 15th. 2-hit the Indians in less than 2-hours. I think part of it was that he pitched so quickly that the Indians just never could get settled. By June 28th and Monday Night Baseball he was the hottest thing in the majors. In the days before the internet when, what, maybe 40 games got televised? Just 44 Days. Nope, we'll never see anything close to it again. Sports just doesn't have the innocence to make that happen and have it be legit.
  8. They are not platooning Riley Greene. Only time he doesn't play is if he's hurting or if he needs a day off and since he's not even 23, I doubt he'll need too many days off. He's a do-or-die player I'll play Green, cf a fan favorite already, but is he a leadoff hitter? well, they have nobody else Meadows, rf, he still gets on base, hopefully he finds it again, he'd make a huge differece if he did Baez, ss yep, a dog poop season in 2022, but still, easily the most dangerous hitter on the team Cabrera, dh yep, still at cleanup. Carpenter takes this slot when Miggy goes on the DL Haase, c, maybe I have him a little high, but when he's right, he's good Torkelson, 1b, I hope he's good enough to hit cleanup at some point Maton, 3b, hits the ball hard, draws more walks than most on the team and no shift will help him. Schoop, 2b, it just feels like every AB for him is a missed opportunity to see a future player Baddoo, lf, I don't think he should be on the team over Carpenter, but they need some speed somewhere Bench: Rogers, Vierling, Ibanez, Kriedler. Nevin replaces Ibanez when he gets healthy. Kerry Carpenter starts in Toledo, where he'll get everyday ABs. Toledo's lineup will be worth following. Keeping an eye on Malloy and Lipcius Maybe Schoop starts out hot and the Dodgers trade a keg of beer for him.
  9. Dallas before Kyrie 29-26 Since Kyrie 7-11 LOL ! He's just poison The most poisonous player on the entire earth disk.
  10. I didn't take Kristina Karamo long, did it? Stupid lunatic fucking asshole shithead motherfucker. Yep, that's who they are.
  11. Think about the atmosphere that Dan Campbell has built. Just 2 1/2 years ago Matt Patricia was an absolute locker room cancer. Players couldn't get away from him fast enough and I don't know how to judge or compare this, but he may be the most hated Head Coach (from a player standpoint) in the modern NFL era. It was that bad. Now guys are coming back. Glagow talked to his old friends. JRM talked to Glover Quin and some other guys he trusts. They want in. They WANT to actually play here. That's why Lamar Jackson would be an awful fit here. Any guy that refuses to support his team or even travel with them for a playoff game, contract negotiation or not, is not going to be a fit for a group like this. These players are buying in. Even when they were losing last year, you didn't hear players bitching, did you? I don't recall it. They were buying in. Taylor Decker said it after a tough loss, that it's different. We've never had expectations like this here, not in my life. It's a bit scary. Just get a veteran game-manager QB to back up Goff, please. That feels like the one thing that could tear them to pieces, a major Goff injury.
  12. When an interviewer in the 90s said his career was tragic, Fidrych corrected him and said "Tragic? I started an All-Star Game, it was great". He wasn't a phony, it wasn't an act, he was just a kid that was as wowed as we were. I still remember his first start against Cleveland and how fast the game was over. He got the ball and it was like it was giving him electric shocks and he had to get rid of it right away. I don't think he got cheated, I think the rest of us did, I think baseball did.
  13. I went to buy a pack of cards at Target and all they had was multipacks, and I'm not spending $25 on baseball cards. I just want the one pack- maybe two. Where do you buy these things now? Used to be in every corner store.
  14. This guy wasn't available
  15. Demanding that his number be retired is a big ask (should have been retired for Jason Hanson).
  16. if they did sign Carson Wentz, that would be interesting to have the #1 and #2 pick from the same season at the same position when most draft experts were saying either/or. Maybe they draft a Hendon Hooker or an Aidan O'Connell but don't use them as the #2 QB, let them watch. I know that is very tricky, trying to keep 3 QBs on the roster, but if they drafted a rookie for a team that is ready to win now, they'd be smart to buffer them for a year. Matt Ryan wants one more shot at glory. Carson Wentz is trying to prove he can still play. I wanted Taylor Heinecke, but he went to the Falcons.
  17. Lions luck would be that they look great, things are humming along the first 3 weeks and then Goff goes down and we STILL DONT HAVE A BACK UP. Carson Wentz with an Offensive Line might be great. Matt Ryan - being a game manager might be great. A rookie with no experience stepping in to run a somewhat complicated offense that is very dependent on timing over raw talent would be a disaster.
  18. What if they sign Bobby Wagner now?
  19. They're going to trade 6 and 18 to get up to #3.
  20. Yep, 48-17. Hip was responsible for 6 touchdowns that night. 4 passing and 2 rushing. Talk about a great home debut. OH MY GOD, THE WHOLE GAME IS ON YOUTUBE...............We probably thought those graphics were so amazing and cutting edge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeHukrwnwWw Wow, look at all that haze in the Silverdome, it's almost all cigarette smoke
  21. First Lions game I went to (that I remember) was the Monday Night game against the Bears..........The Eric Hipple game. We beat the snot out of them. Without looking it up, I think we won 48-17..................Let me look it up.
  22. My first VIVID Lions memory was a game vs. The Baltimore Colts. I was about 11 years old and I had gone to Lakeside Mall with my mom. While she was shopping I was watching the Lions game on the wall of TV's at JC Penney. Colts have a slim lead with just a few seconds left............all they have to do is punt the ball away and my mom said Lets Go, right now. By the time we got to the car the Lions announcers were celebrating a victory. This guy covers that play very well in this entertaining video.
  23. 1992 because they were coming off an appearance in the NFC Championship.
