If the offense is this good, why is he a bridge QB? If you draft a rookie they'll likely suck their first year, and like last eyar, none of the QBs blow me away this year. Acquire a veteran? Well, the good teams aren't letting theirs get away and based on the seasons that Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan are having, that not be the best idea - to throw a ton of money at a name in decline (which is the only kind of veteran you're going to be able to get). When Goff is clicking, he's a Top 10 QB . It's about depth and defense........Goff is likely the long-term guy (and he'll have his share of bad games, but better than a rookie. I guess we'll find out how good he really is if he gets hurt and Sudfeld has to play.

But isn't this when they usually stab us in the heart? I want them to win. I turn 58 2 weeks from today, and a lifetime of pain and disappointment at the hands of this team leads me to believe that with everyone believing in them they'll shite it and do what they've always done. Cousins in 1pm games had a ridiculous record, but the Lions beat them last year (almost the same date), and the Vikings were 5-7, still in the playoff chase and we had nothing to play for. Now the Lions are 5-7, still in the playoff chase and let's face it, the Vikings aren't really playing for anything - they are in the playoffs and even though they are only a game behind the Eagles for the #1 seed, that they probably won't jump them. I want the Lions to win. And I want them to win easily, because this Vikings team is as lucky as the Lions are unlucky. This isn't a 10-2 team. It's a 7-5 team that has had some breaks. Most of the NFL is like that. But prove it's different now by going out there and winning. Fontes won 7 in a row in 1991 to salvage the season, and this team feels a lot like that, but gotta get over the top first.

What makes Justyn-Henry Malloy a Worthy Asset?
Motor City Sonics replied to Useful Idiot's topic in Detroit Tigers
Joe Jiminez was the model of inconsistency. He was never going to be at a higher value than he is right now and they were not going to re-sign him. They have plenty of arms for the bullepn - it's starters they need to find, at least until next year. Malloy gets on base. Don't know if that'll carry over to the majors, but look through the Tiger system, it's lacking on OBP guys. He was the #6 prospect in the Braves system and he has outperformed expectations pretty quickly so far. Calling a guy the next Al Avila when he's halfway through his first offseason is a bit of a reach. We'll have to wait. I love what he's done with the off-the-field part, mostly. -

Last year he'd have hit 30 HR playing in Comerica. -
At last night's Detroit Symphony Orchestra's performance of a Charlie Brown Christmas somebody in the audience yelled out a racial slur near the end of the performance. Isn't that nice............a Christmas concert.........probably with a fair amount of kids in the audience. They are trying to figure out who the person is and that person will be banned for life from DSO performances. Something tells me they won't miss that, since I doubt they are into that kind of thing on a regular basis. I hope they figure it out..............Publicly name them...........and I hope they lose their fucking job over it. I am all for ruining people like that. Sickening. stuff this blatant was not happening before 2016.

Victor Reyes to the White Sox. Gone. He'll probably hit .250 against every team, but .400 against the Tigers. -
I'm talking about the kind of mass killing where people are just out shopping or watching a parade or something like that. Not the typical street violence that happens everyday everywhere.........well everyday in America.........the "greatest" country on earth.

2022 MLB (non-Tigers) catch all thread
Motor City Sonics replied to gehringer_2's topic in Detroit Tigers
He lost two years of his prime to this. Maybe there is a lot more to this, but I used to be believe her and now I believe him. He can't get those two years back, he'll never be 29 or 30 again. I hate feeling like this, I want to not go after the accuser, but I think of the Duke Lacrosse incident (those young men were ruined and their coach lost his job) or the Rolling Stone "Rape on Campus" story where a young lady who worked for UVA named Nicole Eramo had her life turned upside down based on a lie. -

Video comes out of Trevor Bauer's victim laying in bed with a sleeping Bauer and smiling, hours after she claims she was sexually assaulted by him. She claimed she was trying to get away from him and that she was terrified. Very interesting. If she's lying about this, she should go to jail - she ruined his life. I don't even like Trevor Bauer. -
A decision needs to be made regarding what to do with Ned.

I have not been glued to the news, but it feels like its been a couple of weeks since one of these horrible events.

Can Brittney draw a walk ?

Honestly, I have always kind of wondered what he was really doing there too. Don't want to say that because I don't wish ill will on his family, but something else was going on there.

The President always gets the blame, that's just the way it is. People don't investigate things. People don't care about what is going on elsewhere, he's the guy that is in charge and this stuff his happening while he's in charge, which, to me, is an indication with just how unhappy Americans are with the Republicans right now. That there wasn't a red wave during a time of massive inflation and recently high gas prices is a total indictment on them. The Democrats should have gotten the crap beat out of them, but voters don't want the crazies in charge and want to protect abortion rights. I am pissed that the Democrats didn't pay more attention to California and New York in the house races. They assumed they were in the bag and they were wrong and it cost them the opportunity to do a lot of positive things. And on the Gladys Knight thing..............you didn't hear Trump do things like that because Trump only compliments himself or people who kiss his ass...........nobody else exists to him.

Did you see the Whelan family's statement. Talk about grace. "The Biden Administration made the right decision to bring Ms. Griner home, and to make the deal that was possible, rather than waiting for one that wasn't going to happen."

Interesting move signing Xander. Do you think they are trying to get rid of Tatis? They had a great year without him and he doesn't seem to be well-liked. Who would take on that contract for a guy who is one bad test away from being out for good? If the Padres want to move him, how much would they still have to pay him? -

Could you imagine if there was social media when Ernie got fired? Still the most senseless PR move in Detroit history. -

Former Tiger radio announcer Bob Rathbun had a seizure live on the air before an Atlanta Hawks game. Turned out to be dehydration (which can be scary). He's okay now. Bob got a bad deal here..........whomever followed the fired Ernie Harwell was going to be hated and that's why Frank Beckman didn't do it right away. -
Kurt Warner got the Cardinals to the Super Bowl. The Cardinals were the same as the Lions for 30 years.

Have to be a Trumpie to win the Primary Can't win the General being a Trumpie outside of a deep red state - and even there some erosion is occuring. I love it I don't know anyway around this for them. They have to support who the people vote for in the primary. They can't just pick someone else. Of course they could rig the vote, which would be hysterically funny, but I don't think they can get away with it. And if you think the Trumpie candidates are going to be less Trumpie the next time (you know, listen to part elders who tell them to cool down the rhetoric), you obviously don't know who you are dealing with. They're gonna be worse next time. Elders think they were too extreme and they think they weren't extreme enough. The Republican controlled congress will only serve to gum up the works the next two years and won't get anything accomplished (which is why you should see a lot of activity the next few weeks before January 6th). Because the moderate Republicans aren't going to get much done, the loonies will be the loud ones in Congress, which will make them look worse. Oh, and the abortion issue is only going to become more of a clarion call as more states get stricter on abortion rights.........meaning Democratic turnout will remain high with young voters and Suburban women. and Orange Jesus could be indicted on a number of federal and state charges in 2023 too. Grab the Popcorn. Grab the infused Gummies. This will be fun to watch.
