I will defend Ford on the fact that he had the strangest road to the Presidency of any in history. I don't blame him for any post-office finances. He was in a no-win situation. Took two guys stepping down out of shame. The things that Agnew and Nixon did now probably wouldn't end a Presidency. Regarding Carter, I think he tried to be realistic on a lot of issues and that's what clobbered him. Nobody wants to be told that the truth is hard. The Republicans made deals to make sure those hostages would never get out under Carter's watch. To me it's unforgivable. If they had been freed or rescued before the election, Carter probably would have won. He refused to campaign while they were still in captivity. That would never happen now - for either party.

I got an email from a headless parakeet saying the Tigers will win 73 this year. So there, there's your proof.
-
But look how patriotic he is

I guess that's true. Monica Conyers got a law degree. Not sure she passed the Bar, but when I found this out it made "getting a law degree" seem not so impressive anymore. Not saying she isn't smart, but she sure does not portray herself that way. Especially when a 13 year old can verbally smack her down. She's better at assholery than law.

Wanna bet?

Sidney Powell forwarded an email to Fox that was from a woman who claimed to be a "decapitated time traveler", as proof of election fraud. From the email "Who am I? And how do I know all of this?...I've had the strangest dreams since I was a little girl....I was internally decapitated, and yet, I live....The Wind tells me I'm a ghost, but I don't believe it." My guess is that Sidney Powell is an intelligent person, having passed the Bar. Funny how even seemingly intelligent people get sucked into this crazy shit. It's scary. But then again, the people who Marshall Applewhite convinced to ride a comet with him were all intelligent too. This is from Business Insider, not exactly a scandal rag. https://www.businessinsider.com/sidney-powell-voter-fraud-claims-headless-time-travel-dominion-fox-2023-2

Comerica Park is about to turn 25 years old. The way baseball burns through stadiums now, I wouldn't be shocked if in the next 5 years they start floating the idea of a new ballpark behind LCA. There is nothing wrong with Comerica Park (well, a south-facing homeplate was not the best idea), but look at the Palace and how quickly they demolished that place. It was still in great shape. I know they're going to try to do that before 2030. I just wish he'd sell the team. He doesn't want it. He doesn't care.

Here I was yesterday, impressed that we had one day of no pitcher injuries only to find out Casey Mize had back surgery too and his back had bothered him for years. Did he lie to the Tigers? -
You can't go and take part in risky behavior, like shopping, and expect to be safe.

Couldn't figure out where to ask this, so I do it here. Does anyone use Rocket Money? I know that I have things I am paying for but not using and I guess its a good ap for finding everything. But, I am apprehensive about giving them or anyone my bank information (but of course, this is how they find things I am paying for that I shouldn't be paying for). Okay.......Go...........

Misspoke, this happened in 2017, but they have been analyzing it since then and just announced it this week. So the explosion was 140,000,006 years ago.
-
Explosion in Space today. Well, not today, but 140 million years ago. A "perfect" explosion https://scienceblog.com/536582/astrophysicists-discover-the-perfect-explosion-in-space/

Yeah, but its only been 24 years...........you gotta give it time, man.

Funny story. Even though I lived on the West side, my cousin is a dentist on the east side. After getting some work done once I stopped by the Buscemi's on the way back to Ann Arbor for the radio gig. I bought a slice, It was delicious, but it was really, really chewy..........because in my numbed condition I was chewing my bottom lip. When I walked into the radio station an hour later my boss was walking by the front door, he took one look at me and said "What the hell did they do to you?" and just burst out laughing. Painful, but funny.

I think a lot of us knew the Illitches were lying to get their stadium paid for. Because they lied there is a curse on Detroit sports teams.

What's freedom - freedom to carry murder weapons, that are made specifically to murder? Or is freedom things like going to a parade, going to school, going grocery shopping, going to an outdoor concert without fear? do you ever think about what you would do if you were in a certain place and heard gun shots? \ I heard one report say "only 3". Maybe it was a radio caller. That's how fucked up this has become where somehow that seems like it isn't bad. And it's not 3,it's 8 - because the other 5 are not in the clear or their lives are probably going to be severely damaged. Plus the thousands of kids who are probably going to have a hard time adjusting. Only 3. Shut up. 1 is too many. A friend's daughter is a senior at MSU. She's home in Plymouth now. She wants to finish out her year remotely. She doesn't want to go back. She doesn't even want to go get most of her things. How sad.

Anyone who loves guns like these - I think they are a pervert. If that's you, sorry........ Weapons made for war don't belong in daily society, just like you don't see people driving tanks down the street. You take weapons like these and put them into the hands of disturbed people and this will keep happening. This is NOT what the 2nd Amendment is about.

2023 Detroit Tigers Spring Training Thread
Motor City Sonics replied to RatkoVarda's topic in Detroit Tigers
It was Murphy's Law last year. I mean our starting OF'er gets Vertigo? Every pitcher from the opening day rotation was injured or psychologically disabled for long stretches. Schoop, Grossman, Baez, Candy all having career-worst seasons, our star rookie breaks his foot the last week of spring training, our other star rookie is put into the middle of an awful lineup before he's ready. Yeah, that's curse-like, isn't it? We think it can't be as bad this year, but I'm not sold on Meadows being 100% healthy. I think the Wild Cards are the 3 guys they got from Philly and Malloy, if he continues to be an OBP wizard. But really, it's the pitching. You know Manning is going down to injury. It's right in front of us, too many signs pointing that way and the other starters are E-Rod, Boyd, Lorenzen and Turnbull (we have no idea how long he'll need). That's why the expectations are probably lower. Wentz feels like a unicorn season last year, he's not that good, is he? Make Beau stays healthy. Maybe one of the kids (Madden, Flores, Jobe) comes out of nowhere, but that rotation is, as my neighbor's kid says "yucky". -

The fear (and my belief) is that Chris Illitch will NEVER spend money. He reached out for Baez and it failed and he's probably saying "see, it doesn't work". I want a fan boy for an owner, not a profit margin guy. Team is with probably 30 times what his dad bought it for. Sell it to someone who cares about winning. -

I know, with all this maybe the Tigers can hit .,235 as a team this year ! Wait a minute, .241 put a team in the top half of hitting last year? Oh my god. 10 points down from 2017. Wow. No wonder the game is struggling to attract fans. In 2008 that number was .264. -

Harris gets this year as a mulligan, but they had better start improving quickly after that. That may seem unfair, but I think we've had enough of this crap. Great front office and stadium moves this offseason (at least I think they were great) and just awful roster construction, but I get it, he's got to see what he has and maybe Meadows, Schoop and Baez return to career averages, but I just dont see "Wait until 2026" as acceptable. -

Right now it's 60 degrees in Dearborn at 9am on February 15th. There is no way Opening Day is going to be as nice as the last 3 days here. This has been the easiest February of my life (in Detroit anyway). -

I think they should adopt the double first-base to avoid collisions.
