  1. The Harris Era started 5 months ago. Give him some time As for your assertion that he did nothing, you are very very wrong. He totally revamped the scouting and training departments, made a bunch of minor league coaching hires and approved changes to the ballpark dimensions. He needs to see what he has and evaluate what's in the system by his own way of measuring things. He can't rely on what notes were in place on young players since he is basically scrapping the way Avila evaluated and developed talent. He's done plenty. Gotta get the young guys the ABs this year - see what he's got. Signing a big name on a bad team would have been dumb.
  2. Ten years ago..............
  3. Don Shane was a very very nice man and this is my favorite Don Shane moment. Dude had guts.......guts that were pushed into his esophagus on this day, LOL
  4. It would depend on how the refs find a new unique way to screw us and how late in the game it happened.
  5. Not until the tournament's over anyway.
  6. I do think the Lions tend to stay away from bad character guys more than most teams. Suh was kind of an exception and of course the most dangerous draft bust of all time, Reggie Rogers, who had lots of issues and wound up killing 3 kids here. I think what Reggie Rogers did probably has a lot to do with this team avoiding bad guys.
  7. But you can't really say the Browns because they went away for 4 years. And in those 4 years the team that was the Browns got really good (just more sports heartbreak for Cleveland). So if you want to count the Browns, you can't say teams that have been around SINCE the first Super Bowl, since they weren't always around since then.....making the Lions the one and only. It would be more accurate to say the Lions and Browns fanbases have never been to the game, but not the teams themselves.
  8. Winning a single playoff game would be awesome after 33 years. Of all the franchises that were around for the first Super Bowl, the Lions are the only one not to ever appear in a Super Bowl. I don't count the Browns because that Browns franchise became the Ravens, who have been to several.
  9. Did you find that you listened more closely than usual ?
  10. Looking at an NFL Mock Draft for 2024. They have the Lions picking 31st (and not from a trade). WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL !!!!!!!!!!! (and losing to the Bengals).
  11. I am fairly certain that the NHL will screw it up in some way. Who cares about the NBA. Might as well move the Pistons, they're never going to be good again. We finally get a break, we get a #1 pick and he's always going to be injured, they won't resign him, then he'll go play for the Las Vegas Kings or new Seattle Supersonics and he'll finally be a star.
  12. I woke up today hurting, having slept in a bed instead of a recliner for the first time in two years (having allowed my mom to have the recliner while her house remains dark and powerless). Head and neck aching, back barking at me. I realized I needed a few items from the store, like lunch meat and protein bars to take to work for the week ahead, A quick jaunt, if you will. I gather my 6 items and get into the self-service 15 Items or Less line. I looked at all the others who had to carry out this similar task and there was nobody smiling, they were all measuring their mundane lives 1 - 15 items at a time. Every basket told a story, stories not worth recounting. I noticed a man about 5 head of me in line with a full, large cart. I counted the items, I stopped at 30. I figure 16 is forgivable and 17 is hardly a foul, but this man had at least 40 items. I stood, aching and fuming over this personal affront, I wasn't alone. But what do you do, you don't work for the store and you don't know what kind of psycho you're dealing with. If you say something he could grab the plastic container with the four muffins at the top of his cart and slice your throat with the plastic edge. So you just stand.......and stew. It's just one of those things you silently accept, one of those things that selfish people do everyday. This is clearly a person who doesn't give a solitary shit if he's lengthening your stay. Then, when I was next in line, wondering whether I would get self-scan 8 or self-scan 3, ready to place a wager on it with the guy behind me, a loud alarm went off........an automated voice rang out over the store's PA "16 Item Alert, North 10........16 Item Alert, North 10" and from behind the self service counter they appeared, 6 body armored security officers. They rushed the thoughtless jerk and attempted to remove him. He protested, because of course he did. Then I saw one of the officers pull out a cattle prod. He zapped our rude friend under the arm and he fell to the floor, stunned and silent as the officers escorted him out of the store. Everyone in the line erupted in cheers, high fives and even a few celebratory embraces. I doubt this many strangers erupted with pure glee in unison around here since the Wings 2008 Stanley Cup victory. It was the greatest shopping experience of my life. I thought maybe Martin Scorsese was shooting a movie, but no, this was real. My head and shoulders no longer ached, I found a rush of energy that must have been a mixture of adrenaline and serotonin coursing through my veins. As I left the store it was then I realized that come Monday at lunch, I will be enjoying the greatest roast beef sandwich I would ever eat and I will savor every bite with this wonderful moment replaying through my mind.
  13. send him back, send him back now !
  14. Who was this other reliever? My goodness, batting practice pitchers are better. Austin Bergner to the rescue?
  15. Well this fell apart fast. 9-1 now. Two pitchers that have no business on the mound this inning. I am having Daniel Schlereth flashbacks.
  16. 7 batters faced..............5 hits, 1 walk, 1 K Control problems to begin with and dropping velo. Why did they sign this guy?
  17. Wow, this Jace Fry guy sucks. I mean really, really sucks. Holy crap
  18. They both aired, so what's the problem (that'll be gameday's response).
  19. They could always just be like Vin Scully and be quiet, LOL.
  20. Nice start for Maton. Just don't be the Mike Laga of the 20s
  21. Oh, I know. I just think they have so much non on-the-field stuff to cover in these first few games, especially guys they've never talked about before.
  22. they probably had a little fun with that.
  23. I was the same way. Wasn't sure I could get the game on 1270 online, so I got in my car and just drove around for an hour just to listen to the game. It'll be on FM today and maybe some of the more interesting new players will be playing. It's a nice day today so I will probably do the same for a little while. 1270 is literally called The Bet and the station is named after a casino betting sponsor. It's overload and other than a Tigers or Wings game I wouldn't want to listen.
  24. Didn't listen enough to notice, but in their defense they had a lot of offseason moves and new rules and getting to know players information to get out. Announcers need a little Spring Training too.
